Embedded Firmware Engineer

We're building Phase, a split wireless gaming mouse, and we're hiring an embedded firmware engineer to help us move from working prototype to production milestones faster.

This role is focused on execution against a clear roadmap: wireless behavior, settings and storage flows, power-management work, and hardware validation. The product is already in active development, and we're looking for someone who can help accelerate delivery, reduce schedule risk, and close out well-scoped firmware tasks with solid hardware evidence.

This is hands-on embedded work on a real device. We care about verified behavior on hardware, not just code that compiles.

What we're looking for

• Comfortable writing embedded C
• Experience with an RTOS; Zephyr is a plus, but strong embedded fundamentals matter more
• Some Bluetooth Low Energy or other wireless experience
• Able to debug with real hardware tools such as serial logs, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, or current measurements
• Able to explain design decisions, tradeoffs, and debugging steps clearly

What this role looks like

• Work is scoped into concrete deliverables with clear acceptance criteria
• Async communication is fine; strong written updates are important
• We are open to multiple engagement models depending on experience and scope: paid internship, part-time contribution, or contract
• Every completed task should be backed by hardware validation
