Job Description

About Us:

Join a team that is redefining the accessibility of space. Azista space is a transformative force in the global aerospace sector, uniquely positioned at the intersection of indigenous innovation and industrial scalability. Operating India's first private-sector satellite mass-production facility in Ahmedabad, we have bridged the gap between complex engineering and high-volume manufacturing.

As a vertically integrated leader, we provide end-to-end solutions from the precision design of satellite buses and advanced payloads to mission management and communication systems. We don't just build hardware, we are democratizing the final frontier by providing global clientele with the cost-effective, high-performance technology needed to power the next generation of orbital missions. At Azista, you won't just be starting a job, you'll be fuelling the future of space exploration.

About the Role:

Azista Space is on a mission to make space more accessible through cutting-edge engineering and scalable satellite manufacturing. As India's first private-sector satellite mass-production company, we are building the technologies that will power the next generation of space missions.

We are seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to develop mission-critical software for advanced satellite systems and aerospace applications. In this role, you will work at the intersection of real-time embedded systems, flight software, navigation and control algorithms, and high-reliability aerospace platforms.

This is a unique opportunity to contribute directly to the future of space exploration while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams of hardware, systems, FPGA, and aerospace engineers in a fast-growing, innovation-driven environment.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop RTOS-based embedded software for mission-critical aerospace and satellite applications.
  • Implement and optimize navigation, guidance, control, sequencing, and mission management algorithms.
  • Architect robust software solutions for high-reliability, safety-critical systems.
  • Establish and improve software development processes, coding standards, and quality practices aligned with aerospace requirements.
  • Develop low-level embedded firmware using C programming and hardware-level interfaces.
  • Integrate and validate software with embedded hardware platforms, sensors, and communication subsystems.
  • Debug, profile, and optimize embedded applications to meet real-time performance requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with systems, hardware, FPGA, and integration teams throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Participate in design reviews, verification activities, and system-level testing to ensure mission readiness.
  • Contribute to the development of scalable software architectures for future satellite and aerospace programs.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE), Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE), Embedded Systems, or related disciplines.
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in embedded software or firmware development.
  • Strong proficiency in Embedded C programming for real-time applications.
  • Hands-on experience with RTOS and Bare-Metal development for safety-critical or high-reliability systems.

Solid understanding of:

  • Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS)
  • Multi-threading and task scheduling
  • Interrupt Service Routines (ISRs)
  • Register-level programming
  • Hardware exception handling
  • Timing and synchronization mechanisms

Experience with embedded communication protocols such as:

  • UART
  • Ethernet
  • MIL-STD-1553

  • Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and software engineering best practices.
  • Experience with software debugging, tracing, profiling, and performance optimization.
  • Familiarity with ARM Cortex-based microcontrollers and embedded platforms.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP networking and Ethernet communication stacks.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, analytical thinking, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional engineering teams.

Preferred Qualifications (Optional):

  • Experience with FreeRTOS or VxWorks.
  • Hands-on experience with Xilinx Zynq SoC or Xilinx RFSoC platforms.
  • Experience in FPGA development or VHDL programming.
  • Exposure to aerospace, satellite, avionics, defense, or space technology projects.
  • Familiarity with model-based design, system integration, or flight software development.
  • Understanding of aerospace software quality and reliability standards.
  • Experience working on navigation, guidance, control, or autonomous systems.
