About the Role
The Electro-Mechanical Design Engineer will support the design and development of electro-mechanical systems and components, working closely with engineering and project leadership to deliver accurate, production-ready outputs.
The role requires practical strength in both electrical and mechanical applications, with a focus on drawings, specifications, technical documentation, and standards compliance.
This position is well suited to an early-career engineer who can work with CAD tools, handle sheet metal design, and contribute to projects with attention to detail and delivery discipline.
Success in the role will come from translating requirements into reliable design outputs, coordinating timelines effectively, and supporting technical quality across the full design cycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and contribute to the design and development of electro-mechanical systems and components, turning project requirements into workable engineering outputs that support delivery quality and product reliability.
- Create and review detailed engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications using CAD software, ensuring the design package is accurate, complete, and ready for downstream use.
- Prepare technical documentation such as design reports, test plans, and user manuals, supporting project clarity, validation, and handover readiness.
- Ensure designs follow company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements, reducing technical risk and protecting execution quality.
- Manage project timelines and deliverables with Team Leads and Project Managers, helping the team stay aligned on scope, schedule, and technical priorities.
- Apply sheet metal design knowledge and 2D/3D drawing skills to produce practical design outputs that balance manufacturability, performance, and cost.
- Collaborate across functions to solve design issues quickly and support continuous improvement in engineering methods and output quality.
Essential Skills & Technologies
- B.E. or B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering with 6 months to 3 years of relevant experience, showing the role is designed for early-career engineers who can learn quickly and contribute from day one.
- Strong sheet metal design experience, including at least 6 months working on sheet metal, with the ability to support practical design decisions and manufacturing-ready documentation.
- Experience creating detailed 2D and 3D design drawings and specifications, with careful attention to technical accuracy, consistency, and project requirements.
- Hands-on proficiency in SolidWorks or Inventor, which is mandatory for producing, reviewing, and refining engineering design outputs efficiently.
- Understanding of electro-mechanical systems and components, with the ability to connect mechanical design choices to electrical and functional requirements.
- Familiarity with CAD-based design workflows, documentation practices, and standards-driven engineering output that supports quality and delivery speed.
- Ability to work with team leads, engineering managers, and project managers in a coordinated delivery environment where precision and accountability matter.
Additional Plus
- Experience designing low, medium, or high-voltage switchgears and switchboards, which would help accelerate contribution on specialized electrical equipment projects.
- Exposure to LV/MV distribution panels, hybrid generators, recloser panels, transformers, mobile substation skids, metering panels, or solar power distribution panels would be a strong advantage.
- Knowledge of UL, NEMA, AWS, IEEE, CSA, and ANSI standards would help the engineer navigate regulated design environments more confidently.
What You'll Bring
- A practical mechanical engineering foundation that translates into accurate electro-mechanical design support, solid drawings, and dependable documentation.
- The ability to work with CAD tools and sheet metal design tasks while keeping quality, manufacturability, and standards compliance in view.
- A collaborative working style that supports coordination with engineering and project leaders to keep deliverables moving on time.
- The curiosity and discipline to learn quickly, handle technical detail carefully, and contribute to a team focused on growth and execution quality.
