Job Description

Flanders Electric Australia (FEAU) keeps some of the biggest, most complex machines in Australian mining running: Draglines, Rope Shovels and the ARDVARC autonomous Rotary Blast Hole Drill platform. We're looking for an Electrical Field Service Engineer to join our team and take ownership of the control systems that make it all work.

This isn't a role where you'll be fixing the same fault on the same conveyor every week. You'll be troubleshooting control systems on some of the most sophisticated mobile equipment in the industry — equipment that's only getting smarter, as autonomous drilling and electrification retrofits reshape what heavy machinery means in Central Queensland. Maintenance, troubleshooting and repair to equipment including installation to meet OEM standards will be vital.

About You

We are seeking a hands-on Electrical Field Service Engineer based on-site who can lead, be flexible to customer needs, is self-managing, and not afraid to roll up their sleeves. At Flanders, clear and effective communication is crucial as our field engineers must be able to articulate technical issues and solutions to both team members and customers in a way that is easy to understand. The successful candidate will have:

  • A trade background with qualifications and experience in the Electrical Field
  • Minimum 5 years experience in commissioning or maintenance of equipment
  • Previous experience with maintenance and troubleshooting on Opencut Mining Excavators (Draglines & Shovels)
  • Proven experience in maintenance and troubleshooting on DC rotating equipment, Ward Leonard control systems.
  • Possess a fundamental understanding of PLC's, SCADA, Drives and Protection devices, LV and MV Switchgear
  • Capable of performing tests and preparing reports using various types of test equipment including DataQ Recorders utilising Windaq software, Meggers, Micro-ohm meters, Multimeters and other software-based data logging equipment
  • Current Australian issued Motor Vehicle Driver's Licence
  • Report writing skills
  • Capable of completing Police check
  • Capable of completing and being approved by Queensland Coal Board Medical.
  • Competency with MS Office Suite
  • Flexible with hours and willingness to travel
