RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and develop electrical systems for Solid State Transfer Switch (STS) products in compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, interconnection drawings, BOMs, and engineering documentation using electrical CAD tools.
  • Select and qualify electrical components such as SCRs, MCCBs, contactors, transformers, fuses, busbars, current transformers, voltage sensing circuits, relays, power supplies, and auxiliary devices.
  • Perform electrical calculations including cable sizing, busbar sizing, power loss, thermal analysis, short-circuit withstand verification, and protection coordination.
  • Support product design verification and validation through functional, thermal, dielectric, EMC, and reliability testing.
  • Ensure product compliance with applicable standards such as UL 1008S, UL 508A, IEC 60947, IEC 62040, and other relevant international standards.
  • Investigate product issues, conduct root cause analysis (RCA), and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Collaborate with Mechanical, Firmware, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to achieve design objectives and improve manufacturability.
  • Provide engineering support for prototype builds, pilot production, manufacturing, and field issue resolution.
  • Drive cost reduction, value engineering, component lifecycle management, and alternate part qualification activities.
  • Prepare engineering change requests (ECR/ECO) and maintain design documentation throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Support certification activities by coordinating with regulatory agencies and test laboratories.
  • Participate in design reviews, DFMEA, risk assessments, and technical discussions with internal stakeholders and customers.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering team

QUALIFICATIONS

  • University degree in Engineering in Electronics / Electricals.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in Electrical Engineer role.
  • Customer oriented and availability to travel.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Good communication skills in English.
  • Must have good planning, organizing, documentation and communication skills.
  • Must be able to lead and coordinate project tasks with other engineering teams globally.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Experience with Solid State Transfer Switch (STS) or Static Switch design.
  • Knowledge of thermal management and power electronics.
  • Knowledge of CE, UL & CAS standards.
  • Experience in EMC/EMI compliance and testing.
  • Understanding of DFMEA, PFMEA, Design for Manufacturing (DFM), and Design for Serviceability (DFS).
  • Exposure to ERP/PLM systems such as Oracle, SAP, or Agile.
  • Knowledge of simulation tools such as ETAP, MATLAB/Simulink, PSCAD, or equivalent is an advantage

PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS

  • Standing and Walking: The role requires frequent standing and walking around the production floor while assembly of proto units and training sessions.
  • Manual Dexterity: Occasional use of hands and fingers to handle or feel products, tools, or controls, especially during product testing and reviews.
  • Lifting: The ability to lift and move objects up to 25 pounds may be required.
  • Visual Acuity: Close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus are necessary for inspecting product assembly and detecting defects.
  • Hearing: Ability to hear alarms, machinery sounds, and communication from team members in a noisy production environment.
  • Manufacturing Environment: The position is based in a manufacturing setting with exposure to moving mechanical parts, vibration, and occasional loud noise.
  • Temperature Variations: Exposure to varying temperatures within the assembly area, which may include non-climate-controlled spaces.
  • Protective Equipment: Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Gloves, and Ear Protection may be required.
  • Travel of >20%. may be required to supplier sites, customer locations, or other company facilities.
