Job Description
Position Summary
The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for electrical system design support, panel testing, FAT activities, vendor coordination, commissioning support, and on-site troubleshooting. The role requires strong technical expertise in electrical control panels, instrumentation systems, motor testing, and wiring verification. The incumbent will work closely with cross-functional teams, vendors, customers, and manufacturing personnel to ensure timely and successful project execution. The position requires up to 30 % to 40% travel for vendor inspections, FAT activities, commissioning support, and customer site visits.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Project Execution
- Coordinate with Process Engineering, Automation, Manufacturing, Procurement, Quality, and Service teams for successful project execution.
- Participate in Cross Functional Team (CFT) meetings and ensure timely closure of assigned actions.
- Review electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, GA drawings, cable schedules, and technical documents for project compliance.
- Prepare and maintain project documentation, FAT reports, test records, calibration reports, and technical submissions.
- Support new product development, system integration, testing, and validation activities.
- Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to management and stakeholders.
Panel Manufacturing & FAT Activities
- Perform Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) of electrical and automation panels.
- Execute I/O testing, loop checking, functional testing, simulation testing, and troubleshooting activities.
- Verify panel wiring against approved electrical drawings and specifications.
- Support panel wiring modifications and resolve electrical issues during FAT and commissioning stages.
- Ensure all punch points identified during FAT are closed before panel dispatch.
- Maintain FAT records, test reports, and inspection documentation.
Vendor Coordination & Inspection
- Coordinate with vendors for manufacturing, testing, and timely delivery of electrical panels and equipment.
- Visit vendor facilities for panel inspection, FAT witnessing, quality verification, and technical discussions.
- Monitor vendor compliance with approved design specifications, project quality standards, and delivery schedules.
- Provide technical guidance to vendors and support issue resolution during manufacturing and testing phases.
Electrical Installation & Testing
- Perform cable termination for power, control, instrumentation, and communication cables as per engineering standards.
- Conduct insulation resistance testing (Megger testing) of motors, cables, panels, and associated electrical equipment.
- Verify motor wiring, rotation checks, field wiring, and system connectivity prior to commissioning.
- Ensure proper identification, routing, and termination of cables according to approved documentation.
- Support installation, startup, commissioning, and site acceptance testing activities.
Troubleshooting & Customer Support
- Provide remote and on-site technical support for system troubleshooting and breakdown maintenance.
- Attend customer complaints and ensure timely resolution of electrical and automation-related issues.
- Support emergency service requirements and critical breakdown situations whenever required.
- Analyze technical issues systematically and implement effective corrective actions.
Tools, Safety & Compliance
- Maintain testing instruments, calibration equipment, hand tools, and FAT kits in proper working condition.
- Ensure all measuring instruments are calibrated and maintained as per company procedures.
- Adhere to applicable electrical standards, safety regulations, quality systems, and company policies.
- Follow safe work practices during panel testing, commissioning, and site activities.
