Job Description

The Electrical Engineer (MEP) will be responsible for overseeing the execution, coordination, supervision, and integration of electrical systems within multidisciplinary MEP projects. The role requires extensive experience in coordinating electrical works with mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, ELV, and building management systems to ensure seamless project delivery. The engineer will ensure that all installations comply with approved drawings, technical specifications, project requirements, and applicable codes and standards while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and evaluate electrical, mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, HVAC, ELV, and other MEP drawings, specifications, and contract documents to ensure coordinated execution.
  • Supervise and monitor installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, earthing, lightning protection, transformers, UPS systems, DG sets, fire alarm systems, ELV systems, BMS, and associated MEP services.
  • Ensure all MEP works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, project specifications, applicable standards, and client requirements.
  • Coordinate electrical installations with HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, civil, architectural, and structural disciplines to resolve interface issues and prevent clashes during construction.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and provide technical guidance to contractors, and site teams to ensure compliance with quality and safety requirements.
  • Monitor contractor performance, manpower deployment, work progress, and productivity to ensure project milestones and schedules are achieved.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary coordination meetings with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to address technical and construction-related matters.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality management systems throughout project execution.
  • Support the implementation of value engineering initiatives and provide practical engineering solutions to site challenges.
  • Maintain and review project documentation, including progress reports, inspection records, testing and commissioning reports, NCRs, snag lists, and handover documentation.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues related to integrated MEP systems.
  • Support final inspections, integrated systems testing, commissioning activities, snag rectification, and project handover to the client.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
  • 8–12 years of experience in the execution, supervision, or management of integrated MEP projects within commercial, institutional, healthcare, hospitality, airport, industrial, or large-scale infrastructure developments.
  • Strong experience in coordinating electrical systems with HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, ELV, BMS, and other building services.
  • Sound knowledge of electrical distribution systems, building services engineering, and multidisciplinary MEP coordination.
  • Familiarity with applicable codes and standards such as IS, IEC, NFPA, NBC, ASHRAE, and other relevant regulations.
  • Experience in construction supervision, project management consultancy (PMC), engineering consultancy, or contractor environments.
  • Proficiency in reviewing engineering drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Working knowledge of BIM/Revit-based MEP coordination will be an added advantage.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and interdisciplinary coordination skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple activities simultaneously while meeting project deadlines.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and client satisfaction.
