Electrical Engineer (BIM)

The Electrical Modeler will be responsible for developing high-quality electrical models, layouts, and drawings using MicroStation in accordance with project specifications, international standards, and client requirements. The role involves close coordination with electrical engineers, multidisciplinary teams, and project managers to support infrastructure, industrial, and utility projects

Key Responsibilities

1. Electrical Modeling & Drafting for EHV substation projects

• Develop detailed 3D electrical models using MicroStation for:
• Develop 3 D model for outdoor Switchyard includes electrical equipments like Power transformer, SF6CB, CT, PT and other switchyard equipments.
• Modeling of lighting pole, lightning arrestor, CCTV and other ELV systems
• Modeling of cable trays, trenches, and duct banks
• Prepare 2D/3D modeling and drawings, including:
• Single Line Diagrams (SLDs) – modeling support
• General arrangement layouts
• Equipment layouts and section details
• Cable schedules and routing drawings
• Update and maintain models based on design changes, RFIs, and review comments.

2. Standards & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards, such as:
• IEC / IEEE
• NEC / NFPA (where applicable)
• Project- and client-specific standards
• Follow established layering, naming conventions, and CAD standards.

3. Coordination & Collaboration

• Coordinate with Electrical Engineers to understand design intent and calculations.
• Work closely with Civil, Structural, and Mechanical teams to avoid clashes and ensure coordinated layouts.
• Participate in model review sessions and incorporate feedback efficiently.

4. Quality Control & Documentation

• Perform self-checks to ensure accuracy, completeness, and constructability of models and drawings.
• Support QA/QC processes and assist in resolving design review comments.
• Maintain proper version control and documentation in line with project procedures.

5. Project Support

• Support multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
• Assist senior team members in preparing templates, libraries, and reusable components.
• Provide mentoring and technical guidance to junior modelers when required.

Software & Tools

Mandatory:

• Bentley MicroStation (V8i / CONNECT Edition)

Good to Have:

• Bentley OpenUtilities / Substation / Raceway & Cable Management
• Navisworks (for coordination review)
• AutoCAD (basic working knowledge)

Skills & Competencies

Technical Skills

• Strong proficiency in MicroStation-based electrical modeling
• Good understanding of:
• Electrical layouts and routing principles
• Equipment clearances and safety requirements
• Cable management systems
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and markups

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Good communication and coordination skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Comfortable working in offshore / remote delivery models

• Large Solar Farms and substations
• Infrastructure projects (Roads, Rail, Metro, Utilities)
