Job Description

Job Purpose:

To lead the design, engineering, integration, testing, and commissioning of Electrical Control Systems for shipbuilding projects. Responsible for ensuring compliance with classification society rules, naval standards, statutory regulations, customer specifications, and project schedules for naval and commercial vessels.

Location : Pipavav - Gujarat

Key Responsibilities:

Engineering & Design Leadership

Lead the complete lifecycle of electrical engineering activities from concept design through detailed engineering, installation support, testing, commissioning, and vessel delivery.
Develop and review engineering deliverables including:
Single Line Diagrams (SLDs)
Power Distribution Schematics
Control Logic Diagrams
Wiring and Interconnection Diagrams
Panel Layout Drawings
Cable Schedules and Routing Plans
Equipment Specifications
Technical Calculations and Design Reports
Design, review, and integrate shipboard electrical control systems including:
Main Switchboards (MSB)
Emergency Switchboards (ESB)
Motor Control Centers (MCC)
Power Management Systems (PMS)
Integrated Platform Management Systems (IPMS)
Machinery Control Systems (MCS)
Alarm Monitoring & Surveillance Systems
HVAC Control Panels
Cargo and Auxiliary Machinery Control Panels
Ensure compliance with Naval Standards, Classification Society Rules, customer specifications, and international marine regulations.
Resolve complex technical issues during installation, commissioning, and operational testing.
Ensure seamless integration of electrical and automation systems across multiple shipboard platforms.
Lead electrical control systems integration activities throughout vessel construction and outfitting stages

Project Execution & Delivery

Plan and manage electrical engineering activities in respect of Control Systems in line with project milestones and contractual commitments.
Monitor engineering progress and proactively address schedule risks and technical bottlenecks.
Coordinate closely with Hull, Outfit, Structural, Machinery, HVAC, Combat Systems, Production, Procurement, and Commissioning teams.
Support project planning, budgeting, resource allocation, and risk management activities.
Participate in project reviews and provide technical guidance for successful project execution.

Vendor & Stakeholder Management

Evaluate and approve technical offers from OEMs, suppliers, and subcontractors.
Review vendor documents, drawings, technical specifications, and compliance reports.
Interface with customers, ship owners, Naval authorities, consultants, and Classification Society surveyors.
Participate in technical negotiations, design reviews, inspections, and audits.
Support procurement activities through technical bid evaluations and vendor assessments.

Leadership & People Management

Lead and mentor a team of Electrical Engineers, Designers, and System Integrators.
Establish engineering standards, best practices, and quality control procedures.
Conduct technical reviews and competency development programs.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, innovation, and engineering excellence.
