Electrical Architect
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced
Electrical Architect to join the MRI Hardware Engineering team and contribute to the design, development, integration, and maintenance of advanced Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) systems. The role involves working on complex electrical and electronic subsystems within a highly regulated medical imaging environment.
The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in analog and mixed-signal electronics, power electronics, embedded systems, motor control, EMC/EMI compliance, and medical device standards. The candidate will collaborate with multidisciplinary global teams to deliver safe, reliable, and high-performance MRI hardware solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Define requirements, architecture, design, implementation, testing, and integration of MRI hardware modules/subsystems.
- Ensure designs comply with higher-level architectural requirements and product specifications.
- Develop robust, reliable, fail-safe, and quality-focused hardware designs.
- Conduct feasibility studies and drive adoption of new technologies.
- Ensure compliance with medical safety and regulatory standards.
- Prepare and maintain complete technical documentation as per organizational standards.
- Ensure seamless integration of modular hardware components.
- Support product certification activities and regulatory compliance.
- Create project schedules, effort estimates, work breakdown structures, and progress reports.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers within the team.
- Coordinate with suppliers for technical evaluations and communication.
- Support product lifecycle management, sustenance engineering, obsolescence management, and value engineering activities.
Required Technical Skills
Hardware Design & Electronics
- Strong experience in:
- Analog and mixed-signal board design
- Power electronics
- High-speed digital interface design
- 16/32-bit microcontroller-based systems
- Hands-on experience with:
- Schematic design
- PCB design tools such as Cadence or Mentor Graphics
Communication & Interfaces
- Knowledge of communication protocols/interfaces:
- RS232
- RS485
- CAN
- EtherCAT
- Ethernet
- USB
Motor Control & Embedded Systems
- Good understanding of:
- Motors and motor drivers
- Position and speed encoders
- Regenerative operating modes
- Ability to debug across hardware/software boundaries
EMI/EMC & Safety
- Experience with:
- EMI/EMC standards and testing
- DFMEA and fail-safe system design
- Insulation diagrams and MOPP/MOOP concepts
- Electromagnetic field fundamentals
- Electronics design in high magnetic field environments
Medical Device Standards
- Knowledge of:
- IEC 60601 standards
- FDA, UL, CE, CSA, and global medical quality standards
Preferred Skills
- Experience in:
- Communication gateway design
- Battery charger/BMS selection and integration
- Embedded software programming
- Mechanical compatibility aspects
- Agile, ClearQuest, Windchill, or equivalent tools
- Exposure to:
- Global and cross-functional matrix organizations
- New Product Introduction (NPI)
- Product lifecycle management

Experience Required: 12+ Years
Education: BE/B.Tech/ME/M.Tech in Electronics or Electrical Engineering

Onsite roles require full-time presence in the company's facilities.
Field roles are most effectively done outside of the company's main facilities, generally at the customers or suppliers locations.
This role is an office-based role.
