Job Description

Hiring Project Manager EHS Projects (India)

Role overview

EHS Projects will be responsible for endtoend planning, execution, and delivery of EHS consulting and software/field projects across industrial, infrastructure, and power sectors in India. The role involves managing client relationships, leading multidisciplinary EHS teams, ensuring compliance with Indian regulations and international standards, and delivering projects on time, within budget, and to defined quality and safety outcomes.

Key responsibilities

Lead planning and execution of EHS projects (audits, compliance, process safety, digital EHS implementations, trainings) from proposal acceptance to final closure.

Develop detailed project plans, scope, budgets, resource allocations, and timelines; track progress with clear milestones and KPIs.

Coordinate and supervise project teams (EHS engineers, specialists, trainers, software implementation teams, subcontractors) across multiple sites.

Act as primary client interface; conduct kickoff meetings, progress reviews, and closeout presentations; manage expectations and scope changes.

Ensure all deliverables (reports, risk assessments, procedures, training content, software configurations) meet technical quality standards and contractual requirements.

Oversee EHS risk management for the projects themselves (travel, site work, construction activities), ensuring adherence to client and company safety standards.

Monitor compliance with applicable Indian statutes (e.g., Factories Act, BOCW, State Rules) and relevant international standards (ISO 45001, ISO 14001, process safety guidelines) within project scope.

Track project financials: forecasts, billing milestones, WIP, collections, and profitability; initiate corrective actions for cost or schedule deviations.

Support proposal development and business development by contributing to scopes, estimations, and presentations for new EHS opportunities.

Implement project governance: documentation control, MOMs, risk registers, change control, lessons learned, and continuous improvement.

Prepare regular internal and client status reports on progress, risks, actions, and key performance indicators.

Mentor junior EHS professionals in project delivery, client handling, and documentation quality.

Required qualifications and experience

Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Chemical/Civil/Electrical) or Environmental/Safety/Industrial Engineering; a postgraduate qualification in EHS, industrial safety, or environmental management is an advantage.

610 years of total experience, with at least 35 years managing EHS or HSE projects (consulting, audits, process safety, construction safety, or digital EHS implementations) in India.

Demonstrated experience handling multiple client projects simultaneously, preferably in sectors such as power, oil & gas, chemicals, metals, infrastructure, or large construction.

Strong understanding of Indian EHS legislation and standards (Factories Act, BOCW, relevant Rules) and exposure to ISO 45001 / ISO 14001 management systems.

Proven track record in project management: planning, scheduling, budgeting, risk management, and stakeholder communication.

Skills and competency

Strong project management skills (work breakdown, scheduling, risk and issue management, resource allocation).

Excellent clientfacing and communication skills (written and verbal); ability to present to senior management.

Solid EHS technical grounding (risk assessment, incident investigation, audits, EHS management systems; process safety/digital EHS is a plus).

Good commercial acumen: able to understand contracts, margins, and change orders.

Proficiency with standard office tools and project management tools (MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint; familiarity with EHS software is an added advantage).

Team leadership capability: ability to guide, coach, and motivate multidisciplinary teams and coordinate with crossfunctional stakeholders.

Willingness to travel frequently to client sites across India.

Preferred (nice to have)

Professional certifications such as NEBOSH IGC, NICMAR safety, ISO 45001 lead auditor, or equivalent.

Experience implementing or managing EHS software or digital safety tools.

Prior experience working with PSUs or large industrial groups in India
