Job Description

We are looking for a research-oriented, intellectually honest, and pragmatic professional who can continuously engage with global educational research and translate it into grounded, testable initiatives, particularly in the Indian context. The role combines. You will explore what has worked in the past, understand why certain ideas fail, and design structured ways to test promising approaches in real environments. This is a role for someone who values depth over noise, substance over hype, and thoughtful contribution over visibility.

Responsibilities

  • Continuously track global research in pedagogy, learning science, cognitive science, and experiential learning.
  • Distinguish enduring insights from passing trends.
  • Evaluate the feasibility of implementing research ideas in Indian classrooms and institutional contexts.
  • Convert research insights into practical frameworks, pilots, and implementation plans.
  • Design evaluation methods to test the efficacy of new approaches.
  • Analyse field data from partner schools and initiatives to refine hypotheses.
  • Produce clear, well-reasoned research summaries, essays, and commentary.
  • Contribute to EdPi's public intellectual presence through articles and knowledge pieces.
  • Engage with the broader education community in a thoughtful and constructive manner.
  • Interact with researchers, educators, and partner institutions.
  • Participate in intelligent dialogue and collaborative exploration.
  • Support strategic initiatives such as teacher recognition programs and institutional advisory work.
  • Provide research-driven inputs to product, technology, and institutional initiatives.
  • Help leadership teams ground decisions in evidence and insight.

Requirements

  • Strong academic grounding in education, pedagogy, learning sciences, psychology, or related fields.
  • Interdisciplinary exposure (technology, cognitive science, philosophy, sociology of education) is valued.
  • Prior work involving educational research, curriculum design, policy research, or academic writing.
  • Experience translating research into practice or designing pilot initiatives is highly desirable.
  • Ability to think like a researcher: questioning assumptions, designing inquiry, and synthesising evidence.
  • Strong independent writing ability (clarity, depth, and intellectual honesty).
  • A pragmatic mindset is able to judge what can realistically work on the ground.
  • Intellectual curiosity and openness to revising views based on evidence.
  • Easy to collaborate with; respectful, thoughtful, and low-ego working style.

Who Will Thrive In This Role

This role is ideal for individuals who:

  • Enjoy deep reading, reflection, and synthesis.
  • Seek meaningful work with long-term intellectual impact.
  • Value experimentation and careful implementation over quick visibility.
  • Want to contribute to shaping how educational technology evolves at a foundational level.
