This role is one of people manager, responsible for a team size of 10, functionally reporting to P&O SIR (Munich) and locally to the Head of Strategy and Sustainability, Siemens Ltd. India. You will drive multiple topics including developing / monitoring skill development Strategy, Training center management.
A] The different dimensions of the role include:
- Strategic Skilling Program Development:
Design, develop, and implement a holistic strategy for various skilling activities, including Apprenticeship programs, upskilling initiatives for existing employees, and reskilling programs to address future skill gaps.
- Apprenticeship Program Leadership:
- Drive the end-to-end management of our Apprenticeship programs – fitters and electricians, from recruitment and selection to curriculum delivery, mentorship, and certification at Kalwa Works and Nashik Works. We hire about 100+ apprentices annually
- Ensure compliance with all local regulatory requirements and Siemens global standards for apprenticeship training.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external educational institutions to enhance the effectiveness and reach of our apprenticeship initiatives.
- Upskilling & Reskilling Initiatives:
- Work closely with Siemens business and factories to understand their training needs and develop targeted programs that improve operational efficiency, quality, and safety.
- Lead the development and execution of upskilling & reskilling programs aimed at enhancing the capabilities of our current workforce, keeping pace with technological advancements and industry trends.
- Utilize innovative learning technologies and methodologies to deliver engaging and effective training experiences.
- Promoting a Culture of Learning:
Actively promotes the value and benefits of skilling initiatives across all levels of the organization.
Foster a continuous learning environment where employees are empowered to take ownership of their professional growth.
- Global Alignment & Best Practice Integration:
- Serve as the primary liaison with Head quarter to understand and integrate global skilling strategies and best practices into the Indian context.
- Identify opportunities to localize global training content and methodologies, ensuring relevance and impact for our Indian workforce.
- Represent Siemens India in global skilling forums and collaborate on cross-regional initiatives.
- Budget Management & Vendor Relations:
- Manage the training center budget effectively, ensuring optimal utilization of resources.
- Identify, evaluate, and manage relationships with external training providers and consultants as needed.
- Performance Measurement & Reporting:
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness and impact of all training programs.
- Regularly report on program progress, outcomes, and return on investment to senior leadership.
- 8. Stake holders engagement:
- Internally (Routine): You will need to engage with Siemens factories, Executive management
- Externally (Occasional) : Germany embassy, SAG government affairs, Maharashtra government MSDE etc
B] Qualification / Experience / Skill Sets required
- Engineering with MBA in Operations an added advantage!
- 10-15 years work experience in business or corporate functions with proven, verifiable performance record. Prior experience in education / skilling will also be an added advantage
- The role is critical to creating crucial skill pipeline for the businesses and their eco-system. Hence the candidate must demonstrate a blend of business knowledge, vocational education, and people orientation and investment
- Strong growth mindset: Job requires constantly exploring / deploying productivity tools such as digital platform. Knowledge of Digitalisation will therefore be an added advantage
- This role entails occasional meetings with executive management, interaction with visiting high profile officials from the Embassy / Government of India and Germany. The candidate must have a strong executive presence, compelling communication skills (Oral & written) and presentation skills
- The job entails touching lives of about 200+ apprentices annually. Therefore a very high order of integrity, trust and dependability is desired

D] This role is based at Kalwa Works (Navi Mumbai).
The position is leading a technical academy with apprentices. Therefore the job entails physically reporting to workplace for 5 days a week and alternate Saturdays (half day). WFH will not be possible. The job largely is limited to Mumbai based work, but will entail occasional domestic and international travel
