Creative - Editorial Writer

Description: Responsibilities:
- Title & Catalog Writing/Editing:
- Oversee synopses about Indian movies and TV shows in English. A typical day might include editing a number of synopses a week — everything from the latest reality TV show, to an edgy docuseries or pitch-perfect rom com.
- Other culturally relevant product writing, including collection and row naming, email copy or push notifications around titles in English for India
Quality Control & Documentation:
- Embody editorial principles to create accurate, inclusive and creative synopses that are nuanced enough to resonate with diverse audiences
- Continuously update and maintain documentation for writing standards, style guides, and workflows.
- Vendor Management
- Audit and provide meaningful feedback on writing tasks executed by external partners, ensuring adherence to editorial standards while fostering a culture of excellence, learning, and collaboration
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with local Product Merchandising partners — such as the Managing Editor, Creative Merchandiser, and Launch Manager — to ensure that your copy meets market needs (including talent and cultural sensitivities) and aligns with evolving project schedules.
Requirements:
- Full high-level working proficiency in English
- Deep knowledge of Hindi, Tamil and Telugu entertainment landscapes.
- Understanding of the social and political landscapes in India
- Excellent writing and editing skills
- Experience writing synopses for streamers and broadcasters. Editing articles, blog posts, reviews, or feature stories about film and TV
- Experience writing other short-form Product copy or taglines for push notifications, UI copy or email messaging.
- Mastery of AP style and attention to detail
- Research skills to help you gather context about titles and quickly synthesize information from a variety of sources
- A selfless approach to contributing to a world-class editorial team
- Eagerness to embrace a culture of candid feedback
- Ability to work autonomously and hit deadlines across multiple projects simultaneously.
- May have to occasionally visit office in Mumbai. Laptop will be provided.
