About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and creative Video Editor to join our team for our upcoming YouTube channel. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in editing long-form YouTube videos, YouTube Shorts, and documentary-style content, with a keen eye for storytelling, pacing, and audience engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Edit high-quality long-form YouTube videos with strong narrative structure and engagement hooks
- Create engaging and fast-paced YouTube Shorts optimised for retention and virality
- Work on documentary-style videos, including research-backed storytelling, sequencing, and emotional pacing
- Collaborate with the Creative Director, scriptwriters, and production team to bring concepts to life
- Enhance videos with sound design, colour grading, transitions, motion graphics, and subtitles
- Maintain consistency in style, tone, and branding across all content
- Optimise videos based on YouTube audience retention metrics and trends
- Manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional video editing experience (preferably for YouTube or digital platforms)
- Proficiency in editing tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Final Cut Pro, or DaVinci Resolve
- Strong understanding of YouTube content formats, algorithms, and viewer behaviour
- Experience in documentary editing and storytelling techniques
- Knowledge of color correction, sound mixing, and motion graphics
- Ability to create compelling hooks, transitions, and pacing strategies
- Strong attention to detail and creative problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with YouTube creators or digital media companies
- Basic knowledge of thumbnail design and YouTube SEO
- Familiarity with storytelling formats used in global documentary content
- Ability to incorporate feedback quickly and efficiently
