Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experiencedSenior Childrens Books Editor amp; Content
Creatorto lead content development and editorial quality for our children's publishing
program. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience withreputed children's book
publishers such as OM Books, Dreamland publications, Pratham books, Vishv Books
This role requires strong editorial judgment, creative storytelling skills, and a solid
understanding of market-driven children's publishing in India.
Key Responsibilities
Editorial amp; Manuscript Development
Edit, review, and develop manuscripts for children's books across age groups
Ensure age-appropriate language, tone, vocabulary, and content accuracy
Maintain high editorial standards, consistency, and quality across titles
Coordinate with authors, illustrators, designers, and production teams
Content Creation amp; Concept Development
Conceptualize original children's book ideas, series, and formats
Create original content including stories, activities, learning elements, blurbs, and
back-cover copy
Develop detailed content outlines, series plans, and book structures
Publishing amp; Market Understanding
Strong understanding of Indian and global children's publishing trends
Evaluate manuscripts for commercial viability and target readership
Work with marketing and sales teams for content positioning and promotions
Project amp; Team Management
Manage multiple book projects and tight publishing schedules
Guide and mentor junior editors, writers, and freelancers
Oversee proofreading, layout reviews, and final print approvals
Required Skills Amp, Qualifications
Mandatory
Minimum7 Yearsof Experience Inchildren's Book Publishing
Prior experience withestablished children's publishers(OM Books, Prakash Books,
Scholastic, etc.)
Excellent command ofwritten English(editing and creative writing)
Strong understanding of children's reading levels and age segmentation
Proven ability to handle end-to-end editorial workflows
Preferred
Experience with illustrated books and collaboration with illustrators
Knowledge of print production and pagination processes
Exposure to bilingual or Indian-context children's content
Educational Qualification
Bachelors or Masters degree inEnglish, Literature, Journalism, Mass Communication,
or Publishing(preferred)
Salary amp; Compensation
8,00,000 15,00,000 per annum (CTC)
Negotiable based on experience, publisher background, and content portfolio
