Job Role: Economics Teacher (International Curriculum)

Location: Sector 70A, Gurgaon

Job Overview: The IBDP and IGCSE Economics Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality, concept-driven instruction to students. The role involves preparing students for the Cambridge, IGCSE and IB Diploma (Standard and Higher Level) examinations, fostering critical thinking, and guiding students through specialized assessments like the Internal Assessment (IA) and the Extended Essay (EE).

Key Responsibilities

Curriculum Delivery & Pedagogy

  • IGCSE Level: Introduce foundational concepts including the basic economic problem, microeconomic decision-makers, and government macroeconomic objectives.
  • IBDP Level: Deliver advanced instruction in Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, and The Global Economy, with a strong emphasis on the 9 Key Concepts (e.g., Scarcity, Intervention, Sustainability).
  • Inquiry-Based Learning: Use real-world case studies and global events to make abstract theories (like market failure or trade protectionism) tangible and relevant.

Assessment & Feedback

  • Internal Assessments (IA): Guide IB students in selecting appropriate news articles and writing three 800-word commentaries that apply economic theory to current events.
  • External Examination Prep: Conduct regular mock exams and data-response drills to prepare students for Paper 1 (Essays), Paper 2 (Data Response), and Paper 3 (Policy/Quantitative).
  • Standardization: Participate in internal moderation to ensure grading aligns with IB and Cambridge mark schemes.

Mentorship & Support

  • Extended Essay (EE): Supervise students undertaking 4,000-word independent research projects in Economics.
  • Differentiated Instruction: Adapt teaching strategies for diverse learners, including those with English as an Additional Language (EAL).

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Economics or a related field (Master's preferred).
  • Minimum 23 years teaching IGCSE and IBDP Economics.
  • Proficiency in drawing and explaining complex economic diagrams (PPC, AD/AS, Market Power).
  • Helping students transition from narrative writing to structured, evaluative economic analysis.
