Job Description
Ecommerce Data Specialist
As an Ecommerce Data Specialist at Material Depot, you will ensure that every product listed on our platform is accurate, clear, engaging, and easy for customers to discover. You will work closely with vendors and internal teams to create high-quality product titles, descriptions, specifications, categories, and images for India's largest interior materials platform.
Key Responsibilities
A. Product Content & Listing Management
- Create, upload, and maintain product listings across Material Depot's ecommerce platforms.
- Write clear, accurate, and customer-friendly product titles, descriptions, key features, and specifications.
- Ensure product attributes such as size, finish, material, colour, brand, price, category, and application area are correctly represented.
- Maintain consistent product naming and content standards across tiles, laminates, panels, flooring, wallpapers, and other categories.
B. Product Catalogue Quality
- Review listings for completeness, accuracy, grammar, and formatting before publishing.
- Ensure all product images, dimensions, product codes, and technical details match vendor information.
- Improve existing titles and descriptions to make products easier to understand and search for online.
- Identify missing or incorrect information and coordinate corrections before products go live.
C. Vendor & Internal Team Coordination
- Coordinate with vendors to collect product catalogues, technical specifications, pricing, images, and other listing information.
- Follow up for missing details, updated prices, corrected product codes, or better product images.
- Work with design, category, operations, and technology teams to ensure smooth product onboarding.
D. Data Cleaning & Catalogue Organisation
- Collect product data from catalogues, Excel sheets, vendor files, and internal systems.
- Clean, standardize, and organize data into structured formats for product uploads.
- Identify duplicate listings, inconsistent names, incomplete specifications, and incorrect categorisation.
- Maintain accurate master data for products and vendors.
E. Excel, SQL & Reporting
- Create and maintain Excel sheets for bulk uploads, product validations, and catalogue tracking.
- Use advanced Excel formulas, filters, lookups, pivot tables, and validation checks for efficient data management.
- Use SQL to validate product data, identify data gaps, and generate internal reports.
- Track catalogue completion, listing quality, pending vendor data, and upload status.
F. Process Improvement
- Maintain high standards of catalogue accuracy, consistency, and data hygiene.
- Help improve listing templates, naming conventions, quality checks, and product-upload workflows.
- Contribute to automation initiatives that make product onboarding faster and more reliable.
Requirements
- 1–2 years of experience in ecommerce catalogue management, product listing, data operations, content operations, or a related role.
- Strong writing skills for product titles, descriptions, features, and specifications.
- Good understanding of ecommerce product listing standards and customer-friendly content.
- Proficiency in Excel, including advanced formulas, pivot tables, lookups, and data-cleaning tools.
- Working knowledge of SQL for querying and validating datasets.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and ownership of data quality.
- Good communication skills for coordinating with vendors and internal teams.

Annual Compensation: 4–6 LPA, depending on work experience
