1. Role Summary
The ECM Administrator will support the ECM Systems Study for SEI, working alongside senior
assessors and architects to perform environment discovery, documentation, and technical
baselining of SEI's Documentum and Alfresco ecosystems.
This role requires strong handson administrative knowledge of both platforms, the ability to
collect and validate system information, analyze configuration and operational data, and
contribute to asis mapping, gap identification, and migration/consolidation readiness
assessment.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Support the ECM System Study (Primary Responsibility)
Assist in the technical discovery of SEI's Documentum and Alfresco environments.
Conduct environment walkthroughs, gather system details, and validate configurations.
Collect data for architecture mapping, including servers, repositories, indexes,
integrations, and workflows.
Perform inventory extraction: object counts, storage footprint, content types, metadata,
permissions, and ROT indicators.
Support the creation of asis documentation, including environment diagrams, system
matrices, and configuration summaries.
Participate in workshops with SEI SMEs to understand usage, issues, and operational
nuances.
B. Documentum Administration Tasks
Review and report on current Content Server configurations, docbase structure,
repository partitions, and storage.
Support understanding of:
o D2 / Webtop / xCP configurations
o xPlore index topology and health
o Jobs, methods, workflows, and retention rules
Extract logs, job outputs, indexing status, and repository statistics for assessment.
Validate access models (ACLs, groups, roles) and audit settings.
C. Alfresco Administration Tasks
Document ACS repository structure, Solr index configuration, and transformation
pipelines.
Extract system usage, volumes, content models, and customizations
(AMPs/Extensions).
Review scheduler jobs, workflows (Activiti), and permissions structures.
Provide insights on upgrade paths, stability issues, and operational patterns.
D. Operational & Performance Insights
Gather data on system performance, indexing delays, error rates, job failures, and
uptime.
Validate backup/restore processes and DR configurations (RTO/RPO).
Provide operational logs for performance tuning and gap analysis.
E. Integration, Security & Compliance Support
Document connectors, APIs (CMIS, REST, DFC), and integration flows with
upstream/downstream systems.
Extract SSO/LDAP/SAML configuration details.
Review content classification, security groups, and records management settings.
F. Collaboration & Reporting
Work closely with senior ECM assessor(s) to produce:
o Discovery reports
o Inventory sheets
o Asis architecture documentation
o Configuration snapshots
Assist in risk identification, gap logging, and readiness scoring.
Participate in daily/weekly study meetings and provide technical inputs.
3. Required Skills & Experience
Technical Skills
510 years handson experience administrating Documentum environments:
o Content Server, D2, Webtop, xPlore, DA, lifecycles, workflows
35 years working with Alfresco:
o Repository, Solr, Share/ACS, content models, workflows
Strong experience in:
o CMIS, REST APIs
o Metadata & taxonomy concepts
o Records management and retention
o Indexing, renditions, job scheduling
Comfortable extracting configs, logs, and system data for analysis.
Platform & Infrastructure
Good understanding of Linux/Windows hosting environments
Experience with Oracle/Postgres/SQL Server
Familiarity with application servers (Tomcat/JBoss/WildFly)
Soft Skills
Excellent documentation and attention to detail
Ability to work with architects, business SMEs, and operational teams
Strong communication and clarity in presenting system findings
Organized and disciplined in following structured discovery processes
4. Preferred Certifications
Documentum Administrator (or similar)
Alfresco Certified Engineer/Administrator
ITIL Foundation (advantageous)
