Reports To: Principal & Early Years Coordinator

Location: Bangalore

ROLE OVERVIEW

The Early Childhood Expert plays a central role in building foundational skills in early literacy, numeracy, motor development, social-emotional learning, and independence in children aged 3–6. This teacher will apply child-centred, activity-based, and Montessori-inspired methods to create a nurturing learning environment focused on curiosity, exploration, and holistic development.

Montessori experience—formal or practical—is highly preferred.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Teaching & Learning

  • Conduct daily classes using early childhood pedagogy: play-based, experiential, multi-sensory, and structured learning.
  • Use Montessori materials and child-led exploration wherever possible.
  • Teach foundational literacy (phonics, vocabulary, pre-reading) and numeracy (number sense, sequencing, patterns).
  • Prepare engaging lesson plans and weekly themes aligned with school curriculum.

2. Child Development & Classroom Management

  • Observe and document each child's developmental progress.
  • Maintain a safe, emotionally supportive, and joyful environment.
  • Handle classroom routine: circle time, activities, free play, snack time, transitions, and closing time.
  • Encourage independence, responsibility, and positive behaviour.

3. Parent Communication

  • Provide regular updates on progress, milestones, and areas requiring support.
  • Conduct parent meetings and participate in early childhood workshops.
  • Maintain professional and respectful communication with all families.

4. School Events & Responsibilities

  • Participate in school events such as Rhyme Time, Sports Day, Annual Day, Storytelling Week, and festivals.
  • Supervise children during outdoor play, field trips, and co-curricular activities.
  • Maintain classroom materials, Montessori equipment, and learning resources.

5. Professional Development

  • Attend all early childhood training, Montessori workshops, and professional development programmes.
  • Engage in reflective practice and periodic skill upskilling.
  • Collaborate with senior management for curriculum enhancement.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Mandatory

  • Bachelor's degree (Early Childhood Education preferred)
  • ECCE Certification / NTT / PPTC
  • 1–3 years of early childhood teaching experience

Preferred

  • Formal Montessori training (AMI/AMS/IMTC or equivalent)
  • Excellent spoken English
  • Strong understanding of child psychology and foundational pedagogy
  • Creativity in planning activities, stories, songs, and rhymes

  • Warm, nurturing, patient, and child-friendly
  • Strong communication and observation skills
  • High level of empathy and emotional intelligence
  • Ability to maintain calm, order, and joy in a preschool classroom

Work Expectations

  • School hours: 7:50 am – 4:00 pm
  • Participation in Saturday workshops and professional development
