Position: Project Site Head Solar

Project: Khavda Solar Power Project (SJVN)

Location: Khavda, Gujarat

Department: Projects / EPC / Execution

Reports To: Project Director / COO Projects

Employment Type: Full-time (Site-based)

Role Purpose

The Project Site Head Solar is responsible for end-to-end execution and management of the assigned solar power project at the Khavda site, ensuring timely delivery, cost control, quality compliance, safety adherence, and coordination with SJVN and other stakeholders. The role demands strong leadership, techno-commercial understanding, and hands-on execution capability in large-scale utility solar projects.

Key Responsibilities

Project Execution & Delivery

  • Lead complete on-site execution of the solar power project from mobilization to commissioning and handover.
  • Ensure adherence to approved schedules, budgets, and technical specifications.
  • Drive progress to meet milestones, COD timelines, and contractual obligations.

Client & Stakeholder Management (SJVN Focus)

  • Act as the single point of contact at site for SJVN representatives, consultants, and auditors.
  • Ensure compliance with SJVN quality, safety, reporting, and documentation standards.
  • Handle site-level meetings, coordination reviews, and issue resolution proactively.

Planning, Monitoring & Control

  • Review and track project plans, construction schedules, and resource deployment.
  • Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly progress; initiate course corrections where required.
  • Ensure timely submission of MIS, DPRs, progress reports, and billing certifications.

Contractor & Vendor Management

  • Manage EPC contractors, sub-contractors, and service vendors at site.
  • Ensure productivity, manpower adequacy, equipment availability, and material control.
  • Resolve site-level contractual disputes and enforce performance standards.

Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Ensure execution as per approved drawings, technical specifications, IS/IEC standards, and statutory norms.
  • Oversee quality checks for modules, MMS, inverters, piling, cabling, and electrical systems.
  • Coordinate inspections, testing, and commissioning activities with relevant stakeholders.

Safety, Health & Environment (HSE)

  • Enforce strict compliance with HSE policies, SOPs, and statutory safety norms.
  • Ensure safe work practices, toolbox talks, audits, and incident-free execution.
  • Take immediate corrective action in case of unsafe practices or non-compliance.

Team Leadership & Administration

  • Lead and mentor site teams including engineering, QA/QC, HSE, planning, store, and admin personnel.
  • Ensure manpower discipline, performance management, and team morale at a remote site.
  • Coordinate with corporate HR and support functions for staffing and site operations.

Risk Management & Problem Solving

  • Identify execution risks related to land, logistics, weather, approvals, or vendors.
  • Develop mitigation plans and escalate critical issues with solutions.
  • Ensure business continuity despite site challenges.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Electrical / Mechanical / Civil) mandatory.
  • 15+ years of total experience, with 8+ years in large-scale solar project execution.
  • Proven experience as Site Head / Project Head / Construction Head for utility-scale solar projects (100 MW+ preferred).
  • Prior experience with PSUs (SJVN/NTPC/SECI/PowerGrid) will be a strong advantage.

Technical & Functional Expertise

  • Utility-scale Solar PV project execution
  • EPC contract management
  • Progress planning (Primavera / MS Project desirable)
  • Grid connectivity & commissioning coordination
  • Knowledge of statutory approvals, HSE norms, and audits
  • Strong understanding of project cost control and billing
