Role Overview
The Drivetrain Design Engineer will be responsible for the
design, development, validation, and production support of axle housing and drivetrain structural components for automotive or off-highway vehicles. The role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver robust, cost-effective, and manufacturable designs from concept to production.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead or support design and development of axle housings from concept through production release.
- Create and maintain 3D models and 2D engineering drawings using CATIA.
- Perform design calculations and tolerance stack-up analysis to ensure fit, form, and function.
- Conduct design reviews and DFMEA to identify and mitigate potential failure modes.
- Support prototype build, testing, validation, and durability activities.
- Optimize designs for weight, cost, performance, and manufacturability.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and customer specifications.
- Provide technical support for production, quality issues, and field concerns.
- Collaborate with vehicle integration, manufacturing, testing, and supplier teams.
- Participate actively in the complete product development lifecycle.
- Support supplier interactions, drawing clarifications, and engineering change management.
- Willingness to travel internationally as required.
