Downstream Scientist Lead

We are hiring a Downstream Scientist Lead.

We can grow the biomass. The value is in what we pull out of it. That is your remit.

Intrinsic Foundries is a biological manufacturing platform. We convert industrial carbon, both emissions and effluents, into high-value biochemicals. Backed by Transition VC. Built out of Hazaribagh, Jharkhand.

Our biorefinery turns algal and microbial biomass into a cascade of products: lipids and fatty acids like GLA and PUFA, protein-rich fractions, and specialty actives for nutraceutical and cosmetic markets. You will lead the science, and the people, who build that downstream from lab protocol to pilot to plant.

WHAT YOU WILL OWN

• The downstream biochemicals roadmap: extraction, fractionation, purification, and product isolation across the cascade
• Method development and validation: solvent and green extraction, chromatography, membrane and separation trains, analytical QC
• Taking validated lab protocols to pilot and commercial scale, alongside the process engineering team
• Product specifications, characterisation, and quality for food, nutraceutical, and cosmetic-grade outputs
• Working with our science partners, including national research institutes such as CSIR-CSMCRI, and with IP counsel on what we protect and how
• Building and leading a small, sharp downstream science team

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• PhD, or Master's with strong industry experience, in biochemistry, natural products, bioprocess, chemical engineering, or a related field
• A track record in downstream processing, extraction, or purification of biological products, ideally lipids, proteins, or specialty actives
• Comfort moving between the bench and the plant. Lab elegance that never scales is not what we need
• Analytical depth: HPLC, GC, spectroscopy, and the judgement to design a QC method that holds
• Someone who can lead a team, publish or patent where it counts, and still care about yield and cost

WHY THIS MATTERS The downstream is our moat. Capture gets us the carbon; the biorefinery is where the value is realised. This is a founding-level science leadership seat, and one of the roles we are building ahead of our next raise.
