About this opportunity:
The Senior Engineer SRF SCM RAN is responsible for planning, executing and owning software upgrades, configuration changes and related service quality activities for the RAN (2G/3G/4G) within the operations organization. The role ensures change activities meet SLA/WLA targets, follow correct methodologies to avoid outages, and include postupgrade verification and troubleshooting.
What you will do:
- Execute and take ownership of RAN software upgrades/updates (BSC, eNodeB) and configuration changes according to approved change management processes.
- Prioritize and handle assigned work requests to meet SLA/WLA objectives; manage workload and escalations.
- Prepare and validate upgrade/change plans, rollback procedures and risk assessments prior to execution.
- Coordinate with crossfunctional teams (NOC, field engineering, RF, software teams, vendors) to schedule and perform upgrades with minimal service impact.
- Perform postupgrade validation, KPI checks and troubleshooting for downgraded or impacted sites, especially LTE (4G) cells.
- Monitor key service performance indicators (e.g., accessibility, retainability, throughput, RRC success, handover metrics) and interpret results to guide corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate change logs, configuration records and documentation for all activities performed.
- Organize inhouse training, create runbooks, and maintain backup plans to ensure continuity and knowledge transfer.
- Participate in technical reviews and recommend process or configuration improvements to enhance stability and service quality.
- Ensure strict compliance with safety, security and operational procedures to prevent outages caused by incorrect methodology.
The skills you bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Electronics, Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Strong understanding of mobile RAN technologies (2G/3G/4G) and RAN node architecture (BSC, eNodeB).
- Handson experience with software upgrade processes for RAN nodes and managing configuration changes in live networks.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot postupgrade site issues, particularly LTE downsite or degraded performance cases.
- Good knowledge of service network/application characteristics and KPIs, and ability to interpret KPI trends to diagnose problems.
- Familiar with change management, release management and operational SLAs/WLAs.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills; able to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
- Experience with vendor tools and OSS platforms used for RAN configuration and monitoring preferred.
