Job Description:Information Management & Document Control
Location: Balfour Beatty Engineering Design Centre, Bangalore, Manyata Tech Park

About the role: The Document Controller is responsible for managing, tracking, and maintaining project documents to ensure accuracy, version control, and timely distribution. The role supports project teams by coordinating document reviews, approvals, and submissions. It ensures compliance with project requirements and company standards while preventing the use of outdated information.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Establish, implement, and maintain the Document Control / Information Management system in line with project and client requirements.
Register, track, distribute, and archive project documents using (e.g., BIM 360, ACC, SharePoint, Client Portal etc.).
Ensure correct document numbering, version control, revision status, and approval workflows.
Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence, transmittals, and document logs.
Maintain Master Document Register (MDR) and ensure real-time updates.
Ensure documents comply with QA/QC procedures, project standards, and ISO requirements (ISO 9001, ISO 19650 where applicable).
Support internal and external audits by providing accurate document records and traceability.
Coordinate with engineering, construction, procurement, and client teams to ensure timely document submission and responses.
Monitor document review cycles and follow up on overdue comments and approvals.
Support As-Built documentation and handover dossiers at project close-out.
Generate periodic reports on document status, overdue items, and submission progress.
Maintain metadata accuracy and ensure information integrity across systems.
Compile final project documentation including As-Built drawings, O&M manuals, and handover packages.
Ensure final documentation meets client and contractual requirements.
Skills & Experience Expected:
46 years of hands-on experience in document control for engineering or infrastructure projects.
Experience in registering, tracking, issuing, and storing project documents using systems like BIM 360, ACC, SharePoint, Aconex, or client portals.
Good understanding of document numbering, revisions, approvals, transmittals, and correspondence handling.
Ability to maintain Master Document Registers (MDR), follow up on pending reviews, and prepare document status reports.
Experience supporting QA/QC requirements, audits, As-Built documents, and final project handover files.
Desired Candidate Profile:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline (Engineering, Management, or equivalent).
5+ years of experience working as a Document Controller, preferably in engineering, construction, or infrastructure environments.
Strong understanding of document control processes, standards, and best practices across project lifecycles.
Good communication skills with the ability to clearly share and explain technical or project information.
Proactive and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
