Role Description The Doctoral Researcher role at Banaras Hindu University is a full-time, on-site position based in Varanasi. The Doctoral Researcher will design and conduct original research under the guidance of an academic supervisor, including developing research questions, reviewing literature, collecting and analyzing data, and interpreting findings. Daily responsibilities include working in laboratories or research facilities as applicable, attending seminars and research group meetings, and collaborating with faculty, peers, and interdisciplinary teams. The role involves preparing manuscripts, conference papers, and progress reports, as well as supporting teaching or mentoring activities when required by the department. The Doctoral Researcher is expected to contribute to the academic community through scholarly engagement and adherence to ethical research practices.
Qualifications
- Strong research aptitude, including ability to formulate research problems, perform critical literature reviews, and apply appropriate methodologies.
- Competence in data collection and analysis (quantitative and/or qualitative), with familiarity in relevant tools, software, or laboratory techniques for the chosen discipline.
- Excellent academic writing, presentation, and communication skills for preparing theses, publications, and conference presentations.
- Capacity for independent work as well as effective collaboration within research teams and academic networks.
- Master's degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field with a strong academic record; prior research experience, internships, or publications are highly beneficial.
