Job Description
The Kaldo Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Kaldo furnace dedicated to smelting Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) for copper recovery. The role includes managing the feeding system, controlling the combustion and smelting processes, handling slagging, and ensuring optimal process control tailored specifically for PCB materials.
Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance: Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations during shift operations. Promote a safety culture by implementing and enforcing safety practices in DMT.
Furnace Operations: Feeding System Operation: Operate and control the feeding system designed specifically for PCB scrap input. Ensure consistent, accurate feeding of PCBs to maintain furnace balance and efficiency. Combustion & Smelting: Monitor and adjust combustion parameters (fuel, air supply) to handle the complex and variable nature of PCB material. Manage the smelting process to optimize metal recovery while minimizing emissions from PCB combustion. Slagging Process Control: Control flux additions to facilitate effective slag formation, separating non-metallic residues from molten copper. Monitor slag quality and adjust processes to enhance impurity removal specific to PCB residues. Process Monitoring & Control: Use process control systems to continuously monitor temperature, oxygen levels, and other parameters critical for PCB smelting. Adjust furnace conditions to maximize metal yield and comply with environmental standards.
Maintenance Management: Coordinate with maintenance teams for preventive and corrective maintenance. Report any abnormalities or malfunctions promptly to AET Team/manager.
Reporting and Documentation: Record production data, including quantities processed, temperature readings, and any operational issues.
