Distinguished Engineer, Quality Engineering

In this role, you will come up with processes and best practices, get buy-in from the engineering leadership and development teams, roll the changes out, and track and enforce them. It's a very collaborative role; you're expected to work well together with the most senior engineers, managers, and directors.

What you will be doing

• Review testing processes in development teams, and work with them to align around the best practices.
• Define metrics and KPIs for software quality, implement them for all development teams, and track them monthly.
• Identify gaps in test coverage based on the metrics and drive teams to fill the gaps.
• Identify gaps in test automation across all development teams and drive improvements to address them.
• Write process documentation and present them to large audiences in a clear and engaging fashion.
• Work closely with engineering management, product management, release management, PMO, and individual engineers.

Required skills and experience

• 15+ years of experience in software testing and test automation development.
• 10+ years of management experience, preferably on Director+ level.
• Release management experience is strongly preferred.
• Experience testing distributed systems.
• Willingness to work with a globally distributed team in different time zones (US, EU, India, Taiwan).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills. Communicate in an open, transparent and consistent manner.
• Experience working with and testing security and networking technologies and products is a plus. This includes but is not limited to proxy servers, firewalls, SSL/IPSec, VPNs etc.
• Knowledge or experience in cloud-based technologies such as SaaS, IaaS, and PaaS.
• Experience building automation frameworks in Python, Javascript and/or C++ strongly preferred.

Education

• BSCS or equivalent required, MSCS or equivalent strongly preferred.
