Job Description

As the Director of Technology & Data, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the technology infrastructure and data management systems critical to our organization's success. Reporting directly to the Founder & CEO, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining robust technology solutions and data management systems, ensuring the accuracy, privacy, and effective tracking of data in support of policy initiatives.

Technology Leadership: Lead organization's technology initiatives, ensuring the adoption of cutting-edge tools and systems that enhance efficiency and effectiveness in delivering social development programs.

  • Evaluate, select, implement technology solutions to enhance program effectiveness.
  • Maintain and upgrade existing technology infrastructure.
  • Oversee IT systems, hardware, and software, ensuring functionality and security.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technology-related issues promptly.

Data Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive data strategy aligned with the organization's social development goals. This includes defining data governance standards, data collection and analysis methodologies, and data storage and security protocols.

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust data management systems and databases.
  • Oversee data collection, validation, and analysis processes.
  • Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Implement data quality control measures to minimize errors and discrepancies.
  • Establish and enforce data quality standards and practices to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and consistency of data across the organization.

Data Analytics & Tracking: 

  • Develop and execute data analytics and reporting strategies. Extract actionable insights from data to inform decision-making.
  • Develop and implement systems for tracking and reporting on key data metrics.
  • Provide regular updates to leadership on the status & performance of data management systems.

Data Management Systems:

  • Implement & manage data management systems specifically designed for policy tracking, analysis.
  • Work closely with the Policy Research & Advocacy team to understand data requirements for effective policy development.

Data Privacy and Security: Oversee data privacy & security measures, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA). Implement robust data protection protocols and ensure staff adherence.

  • Implement data security protocols to safeguard sensitive information.
  • Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and ethical guidelines.
  • Develop disaster recovery and business continuity plans.

Technology Innovations, Partnerships, Continuous Improvement: 

  • Collaborate with external partners, vendors, and experts to leverage technology solutions and best practices to enhance the organization's impact.
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies. Identify opportunities for process improvement and innovation to drive efficiency and effectiveness.

Team Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Policy Research & Advocacy & IT to ensure seamless integration of data systems with organizational processes.

Qualifications:

  • Post-graduate degree in social sciences, management, Technology, computer science, Data Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 10-15 years of Proven experience in overseeing technology infrastructure and implementing data management systems in Social Development Sector.
  • Strong understanding of data governance, data privacy regulations & data security best practices.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and platforms. Experience with qualitative & quantitative data collection & analysis using packages like DHIS, ONA, GBVIMS, SPSS, MS-Excel, MS-Word, MS-Access, Tableau, etc.
  • Knowledge of data protection regulations (e.g. GDPR, HIPAA) & ethical data handling.
  • Strong understanding of data privacy regulations and best practices.
  • Excellent project management and a strategic mindset.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to develop and manage budgets effectively.
