Position Overview : OptymEdge, a Veridix company within the Emmes Group, is transforming ophthalmology clinical development by digitizing manual processes and data collection into streamlined workflows. Through our Acuvera platform, we leverage technology to build innovative data products that drive efficiency and insight. The Director, Software Engineering OptymEdge will leave the engineering and development of the Acuvera platform. The Director will combine strategic vision with hands-on technical leadership, overseeing infrastructure, architecture, application development, data security and testing/QA. The leader will build and mentor a high-performing engineering team, foster cross-functional collaboration, and translate business needs into actionable product solutions.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Proven experience owning and shipping large-scale, distributed, cloud-native systems.
- Strong technical fluency with modern cloud platforms, including: AWS (ECS/EKS, Lambda, DynamoDB, Aurora/RDS, S3, Redshift) or equivalent cloud infrastructure.
- Solid understanding Microservices and event-driven architectures (Kafka, SNS/SQS, Pub/Sub), API-first systems (REST and/or GraphQL), Relational, NoSQL, and analytical data stores
- Ability to reason deeply about system architecture, data flows, and technical trade-offs.
- Experience building or scaling platform, infrastructure, or developer-facing products.
- Experience defining and measuring product metrics, OKRs, and outcome-based success.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and influence skills with senior technical and business stakeholders.
- Ability to operate effectively in high-ambiguity, fast-paced environments.
- Proven ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Satisfactory background check required.
- Experience working with AI/ML-powered systems, including model lifecycle, experimentation, or production ML pipelines.
- Experience operating products at high scale (high throughput, or large data volumes).
- Familiarity with data platforms (streaming, batch processing, analytics, experimentation).
- Experience working across multiple teams and geographies.
- Experience balancing product velocity with platform stability and long-term system health
India Leadership and Operations:
- Provide senior leadership to the OptymEdge India-based team, offering guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure global strategy alignment.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment that promotes professional development and team cohesion.
- Collaborate with talent management efforts in India, focusing on retention, professional development, and upholding the company's values.
- Regularly update the Global and India Executive Team on the progress of technology initiatives, highlighting key successes, challenges, and improvement strategies.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree, preferred, in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in product development and software engineering with at least 5 years in engineering leadership and management.
