Director Software Engineering - AL/ML

We are seeking a visionary and experienced DirectorSoftware Engineering - AL/MLto lead the development and deployment of scalable, production-grade AI solutions that drive analytics, automation, and intelligent decision-making across the organization. This leadership role will oversee a team of AI engineers and collaborate cross-functionally to architect and implement cutting-edge machine learning, generative AI, and data-driven systems that power our enterprise platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Vision

• Define and drive the AI engineering strategy aligned with organizational goals.
• Lead the roadmap for AI initiatives, ensuring alignment with business priorities and technology trends.
• Evangelize AI capabilities across the organization and foster a culture of innovation and experimentation.
• Team Management & Mentorship
• Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing team of AI engineers and researchers.
• Establish best practices for model development and lifecycle management.
• Promote continuous learning and professional development within the team.

AI Architecture & Model Development

• Oversee the design, training, and deployment of machine learning and deep learning models using frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Scikit-learn.
• Guide the implementation and fine-tuning of large language models (LLMs) using tools like LangChain, RAG, and vector databases.
• Ensure scalability, performance, and reliability of AI systems in production environments.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner with data engineering, product, and business teams to integrate AI solutions into enterprise applications and workflows.
• Drive the development of APIs and microservices for seamless AI integration.

Governance, Ethics & Compliance

• Champion responsible AI practices, ensuring compliance with enterprise security, data governance, and ethical standards.
• Establish frameworks for model monitoring, retraining, and performance optimization.

Skills & Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience in AI/ML engineering, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role.
• Proven track record of delivering enterprise-grade AI solutions at scale.
• Deep expertise in Python and AI frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch).
• Strong understanding of LLMs, NLP, computer vision, and generative AI technologies.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization tools.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and strategic thinking skills.

Preferred Experience

• Experience in educational technology or enterprise data environments.
• Familiarity with integrating AI into transactional systems and data warehouses.
