About the Opportunity

Our client is seeking an experienced engineering leader to oversee semiconductor test hardware development, validation strategies, and engineering execution across global product portfolios.

This role will be responsible for driving test hardware architecture, silicon validation readiness, manufacturing test capability, and engineering excellence throughout the product lifecycle. The successful candidate will lead multidisciplinary engineering teams while partnering closely with product engineering, operations, manufacturing, and external suppliers to deliver high-quality test solutions that support business growth and operational objectives.

The position requires strong technical expertise in semiconductor test systems, proven leadership capabilities, and extensive experience managing complex engineering programs within high-volume manufacturing environments.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering Leadership & Strategy

  • Define and execute long-term test hardware engineering strategies aligned with technology roadmaps and business objectives.
  • Lead and develop high-performing engineering teams responsible for test hardware design, validation, and deployment activities.
  • Establish technical standards, engineering best practices, and governance frameworks across global development teams.
  • Drive innovation initiatives that improve test efficiency, product quality, and manufacturing readiness.

Test Hardware Development

  • Oversee the design, development, qualification, and deployment of semiconductor test hardware solutions supporting new and existing products.
  • Provide technical direction on load board architecture, probe interface solutions, and hardware integration methodologies.
  • Ensure test hardware designs meet product performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost objectives.
  • Review engineering deliverables and provide guidance on technical risk mitigation strategies.

Product Validation & Manufacturing Readiness

  • Lead hardware readiness activities supporting silicon validation and production release programs.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure robust validation methodologies are implemented throughout the development cycle.
  • Drive initiatives focused on improving first-pass success rates, reducing qualification risks, and accelerating product launch timelines.
  • Support manufacturing ramp-up programs through effective hardware deployment and operational readiness planning.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with product engineering, operations, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams to ensure alignment across development activities.
  • Facilitate technical decision-making and problem resolution across multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Provide technical leadership during critical product development, qualification, and production milestones.
  • Influence strategic decisions involving technology investments, engineering resources, and development priorities.

Supplier & Vendor Management

  • Develop strategic relationships with external hardware suppliers and technology partners.
  • Evaluate supplier capabilities and support sourcing decisions for critical engineering programs.
  • Manage vendor performance, technology roadmaps, and long-term collaboration initiatives.
  • Ensure supplier solutions align with technical requirements, quality standards, and business objectives.

Project & Risk Management

  • Lead complex engineering programs involving multiple product lines and global stakeholders.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, technical risks, and resource allocation.
  • Establish performance metrics and reporting mechanisms to monitor program effectiveness.
  • Ensure timely delivery of engineering milestones while maintaining quality and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Semiconductor Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in semiconductor test engineering, hardware development, validation, or related technical functions.
  • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience managing engineering teams, programs, or technical organizations.
  • Strong knowledge of semiconductor test methodologies, validation processes, and production test environments.
  • Experience supporting silicon validation, product qualification, and high-volume manufacturing programs.
  • Proven ability to lead large-scale engineering initiatives within fast-paced semiconductor environments.
  • Strong project management, stakeholder management, and organizational leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence technical and business decisions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with automated test equipment (ATE) platforms and semiconductor production test systems.
  • Familiarity with Advantest platforms including V93K, T750, UltraFLEX, UltraFLEX Plus, or similar test environments.
  • Knowledge of load board development, probe card technologies, signal integrity, and power integrity considerations.
  • Experience supporting digital, mixed-signal, RF, high-speed, or advanced semiconductor products.
  • Strong understanding of semiconductor product development lifecycles and manufacturing operations.
  • Established network within semiconductor test hardware suppliers and industry partners.
