Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Director, Quality Engineering in our Bengaluru office The Director of Quality Engineering at Granicus is a managerial and technical leader of a quality engineering team.

The primary role of the Director is to lead productive, resilient, high-performing quality development teams, while fostering a culture of inclusivity, transparency, and innovation, where customers needs are ever present.

The primary responsibility of the Director is to work closely with leadership across the organization to ensure that the quality engineering team supports the goals of the business while identifying ways others can further enable the quality engineers impact, constantly leading the team in the same direction.

The Director reports to the Regional VP of Software Engineering and has managerial and technical oversight of multiple distributed teams, overseeing testing, emphasizing automation, security and quality best practices.

  • Talent Management: Create a resilient organization that can attract, train, retain and develop quality engineers while avoiding high dependence on individuals
  • Leadership: The Director is a leader of people, and the critical aspect of the role (above all else) is to maximize the efforts of your teams to achieve Granicus goals.
  • Productivity: Ensure that the quality engineers flourish in an organization that values measurement, accountability, and goal attainment
  • Best Practices: Be a strong advocate for quality engineering best practices where all the quality engineering teams globally organize, execute and flourish similarly.
  • Cultural Advocate: Intentionally influence and shape the engineering culture where engineer values are clear, are embraced and create a great place for engineers to grow, contribute and be happy in a team-focused environment.
  • Innovation: With a large array of products to maintain and improve, it's all too easy for the engineering mindset to degrade into maintenance-thinking. The Director ensures that small and large innovations are always under consideration.
  • Key Metrics: All leaders in Granicus need to embrace accountability and measurement. Here are some of the key metrics for the Director role:
1.Recruiting time to hire, turnover 2.Employee NPS scores and Engineering Team Health 3.Velocity, predictability, quality, escaped defects, roll backs, security 4.Roadmap attainment 5.Customer NPS scores

You will love this job if you have:
  • Multiple years of experience managing quality engineers including quality engineering managers through successful product deliveries in a fast paced, cloud environment.
  • The Director will not be expected to code but will benefit greatly from the experience of having done so in the past.
  • Experience managing distributed, even global development teams.
  • Experience standardizing test automation processes and technologies across multiple scrum teams.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills for interacting with all internal and external stakeholders
  • Elevated level of personal initiative, integrity, and leadership.
  • Ability to serve as the technical leader of a distributed, collaborative, and extraordinarily skilled quality engineering team.
  • Deep knowledge of Agile development, in particular Scrum.
  • Deep knowledge of using automation test frameworks to develop E2E, API and Load tests.
  • Strong experience with accessibility and security testing.
