Digantara is seeking a highly skilled and motivated candidate for role of Director, Quality Assurance with 10+ years[MD1] of experience, preferably in aerospace/space domain to ensure quality in all aspects of the space hardware systems and associated ground-based support systems. The candidate will be responsible to lead the team of QA/QC engineers and manage end to end quality assurance and quality control activities within the organization ensuring compliance with the mission requirements and applicable space standards.

Ideal Candidate

Candidate with expertise in aerospace/space quality management for mechanical, optics and electronic components, good exposure to assembly, integration and testing of satellite systems, structural system with attention to details and problem-solving approach.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance and quality control processes for spaceflight hardware and precision optomechanical and structural systems.
  • Ensure compliance with mission-specific quality standards, including documentation, traceability and configuration control.
  • Support and oversee AIT (Assembly, Integration, and Testing) activities, ensuring adherence to approved procedures and cleanliness requirements.
  • Conduct and support internal audits and supplier audits. Perform receiving inspection of the mechanical, optical, electronic components and BOIs.
  • Handling non-conformance, review RCA and CAPA report, provide disposition.
  • Review engineering drawings and specifications, manufacturing process plans, inspection plan, assembly and test procedures for quality compliance.
  • Review of inspection report, material TC/COCs, calibration reports, NCR and other QA documentation from supplier.
  • Participate in and support program design and quality reviews, including like PDR, CDR, MRR, etc. Mentor junior QA/QC engineers and inspectors.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in QA/QC for aerospace or space hardware, preferably with spaceflight programs.
  • Strong experience working with space or aerospace quality standards such as AS9100, ISO 9001, ECSS, NASA standards, MIL standards. Familiarity with material and special process standards.
  • Proven experience in inspection and acceptance of precision mechanical and optomechanical hardware. Knowledge of CMM, VMM and manual inspection.
  • Experience in assembly, integration and environmental & qualification testing of aerospace hardware.
  • Excellent configuration management, NC handling and technical documentation skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Geometric Dimension and Tolerancing as per ASME Y14.5 and tolerance Stack up.
  • Knowledge of 5 Why analysis, Fishbone, 8D problem solving and RCA techniques.
  • Basic understanding Quality Control Tools, FMEA, Kaizen, Poka-Yoke.
  • Configuration management tools and PLM systems.
  • ISO 9001/AS9100 Internal or Lead Auditor.
  • Certified Six Sigma Black Belt / Certified Quality Engineer from ASQ or equivalent.
  • SolidWorks/NX, Minitab, MS Excel
