Designation: Director Projects (Construction).
Preferred Educational Qualification: Master's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
Experience: Minimum 18 years of experience in construction project management, leading a team more than 10 people, preferably within higher education or institutional environments
Role Summary:
The Director of Projects (Construction) will lead the end-to-end planning, development, and execution of all construction and infrastructure initiatives across the university campus. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring that all projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with university standards for quality, sustainability, and safety. The Director will coordinate with internal departments and external agencies, oversee a team of project managers, and serve as a strategic advisor to university leadership on all matters related to capital projects and infrastructure development.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Lead and manage university-wide construction projects including new buildings, renovations, and infrastructure upgrades.
Define project scopes, timelines, budgets, and resource plans in collaboration with university leadership and stakeholders.
Oversee architectural design reviews, procurement processes, contractor selection, and contract negotiations.
Ensure compliance with university standards, local building codes, environmental norms, and safety regulations.
Monitor construction progress, budget adherence, quality control, and risk mitigation across multiple projects.
Prepare and deliver detailed project reports and presentations to university management and governing bodies.
Manage, mentor, and build a high-performing team of project managers and support staff.
Champion sustainable construction practices and integrate energy efficiency in all development plans.
Serve as the key liaison with architects, consultants, government authorities, and regulatory bodies.
Align construction projects with academic priorities, operational requirements, and long-term strategic goals.
Ensure minimal disruption to academic and administrative functions during construction activities.
Advise senior leadership on capital planning, facilities modernization, and infrastructure investments.
Implement project management best practices using digital tools and software.
Foster collaboration across departments, build consensus, and drive accountability throughout project lifecycles.
Represent the university's interests with professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to excellence in campus development.
