Role Overview
The Director, PMO & Oracle Transformation Delivery will lead governance and execution for American Express's multi-year migration of GSM subledger processes to Oracle Fusion Cloud.
This leadership role is accountable for ensuring disciplined delivery, portfolio visibility, and organizational readiness across Finance, Technology, Business, and Capabilities. The Director will oversee the Program Management Office (PMO) functionsdriving consistency, transparency, and adoption across all global workstreams.
Partnering closely with Central PMO, Finance, Capabilities, Technology, and Controllership teams, this role bridges enterprise strategy and on-the-ground execution to enable a successful Oracle Cloud transformation.
Success in this role will be defined by the delivery of a well-governed, on-time transformation that enhances process efficiency, compliance, and adoption across global markets.
Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership & Governance
- Lead the GSM PMO for the Oracle Cloud Transformation, establishing governance frameworks and delivery cadences across Finance, Procurement, Supplier, Tax, Accounting, and Disbursements workstreams.
- Develop and maintain the master program plan, milestones, dependencies, and risk strategies to ensure timely, cost-effective, and high-quality delivery.
- Drive portfolio-level planning, tracking, and prioritization aligned with enterprise objectives and funding commitments.
- Lead executive reporting, including Steering Committee updates, dashboards, and program scorecards.
- Collaborate with Finance, Capabilities, and Technology leadership to ensure transformation delivery aligns with enterprise priorities.
Risk, Issue & Quality Oversight
- Establish and manage structured risk, issue, and dependency management processes to ensure timely escalation and resolution.
- Monitor program health using KPIs covering schedule, scope, risk, and readiness.
- Ensure PMO processes uphold audit, SOX, and internal control standards across all transformation workstreams.
- Conduct regular health checks and quality reviews to identify gaps and recommend corrective actions.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
- Build trusted partnerships across GSM, Finance, Technology, and Capabilities to enable coordinated execution and dependency management.
- Facilitate leadership forums, enabling informed decision-making and transparent communication of priorities and outcomes.
- Collaborate with Executive Sponsors and Finance Transformation leadership to define, track, and communicate business benefits realization.
- Maintain consistent communication with regional stakeholders to ensure alignment and awareness of program progress and impacts.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in finance, Business, Technology, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- PMP certification required; Proven 15 years experience leading PMO and Change Management functions in large-scale, global transformation initiatives. Prior knowledge of Procure-to-Pay operations will be advantageous.
- Deep understanding of governance in a matrixed organization.
- Demonstrated success in executive stakeholder management, enterprise governance, and strategic communications.
