Job Description
Director, Product Management — Ecosystem & Optimisation
Shell Recharge Solutions is a leader in delivering the new electric mobility future through innovative software, infrastructure, and professional services that empower utilities, cities, fleets, transit agencies, and automakers to deploy EV charging infrastructure at scale. Our technology is connecting EV infrastructure solutions with public and private charging needs in a safer, cleaner, and smarter way. Headquartered in India, the company's global footprint spans across three continents with deployments in 13 different countries. With a team of up to 200 professionals in India, we serve as the operational backbone for one of the world's most advanced EV charging networks — driving decarbonization, digitalization, and mobility at scale.
Shell and its portfolio company, Shell Recharge Solutions, operate over 70,000 charge points globally. We are committed to building and operating a cutting-edge, end-to-end E-Mobility technology platform, encompassing critical CPO and MSP digital capabilities. Our business goals include a 4x increase in EV margins by 2030, improved ROACE, and industry-leading efficiency and resilience. The software platforms led by the CPO will be central to achieving these ambitions.
At Shell Recharge Solutions, we are looking for candidates who want to be a part of something bigger than themselves — passionate, purpose-driven individuals who believe having a career means making a meaningful impact on our business and the world. We believe in creating and doing the right thing through responsible and sustainable EV deployment. We are looking for the innovative, driven to find a solution in a complex and dynamically evolving marketplace and look at no as just a challenge to find the next yes.
Why this role matters
Shell Recharge's ability to expand network reach, integrate partners and improve charging economics depends on an interoperable ecosystem and intelligent optimisation capabilities. The Ecosystem and Optimization Product Portfolio brings these outcomes together: Ecosystem Access & Roaming, and Energy, Data & Decision Optimisation. The squad enables usable partner-network growth while lowering energy cost and creating reusable, governed decision intelligence.
The Product Director — Ecosystem & Optimisation is the player-coach accountable for the squad'sstrategy, outcomes and roadmap. The role leads senior product talent and directly owns one product domain, connecting commercial priorities, partner needs and engineering execution across roaming, Auto-OEM and API integrations, licence-market enablement, smart charging, site load management, EMS integration, analytics products and decision services.
This is a high-visibility leadership role with end-to-end accountability for measurable business and operational outcomes, clear decision authority and disciplined management of cross-squad dependencies.
Role Overview
You will lead the Ecosystem & Optimisation squad and its two outcome pods. Ecosystem Access & Roaming owns partner mediation, interoperability and ecosystem expansion through OCPI/OICP, partner onboarding, Auto-OEM integrations, APIs and licence-market enablement. Energy, Data & Decision Optimisation owns smart charging, site load management, EMS integration, governed analytics and reporting products, and reusable model and decision services.
Success means growing usable accessible charge points and reducing partner activation time, while delivering measurable energy benefit, safe automation and adoption of data and decision products. You will ensure partner exchange is normalised without compromising the authoritative session, tariff and financial records owned by other domains.
The role reports to the Head of Product, SRS.
What You'll Do
• Build scalable partner and integration products rather than one-off solutions; make explicit trade-offs between strategic differentiation, reuse, speed and cost-to-serve.
• Lead discovery, prioritisation, validation, delivery, launch and in-life optimisation with Engineering, Architecture, Design, Data Science, Operations, Commercial and market teams.
• Define governance, guardrails, evaluation criteria and human escalation paths for AI-enabled decision use cases; ensure outcome pods retain accountability for their AI use cases.
• Represent the squad with senior executives, markets and external partners, creating decision-ready narratives on value, risk, sequencing, dependencies and performance.
• Set the product strategy, outcome roadmap and investment priorities for your squad, balancing ecosystem growth, interoperability, energy economics and reusable decision intelligence.
• Lead as a player-coach: manage and develop product leaders while directly owning one of the squad's product domains.
• Own measurable outcomes and KPI movement, including usable accessible points, partner activation time, energy benefit, safe automation and product adoption.
• Drive the ecosystem roadmap across roaming mediation, OCPI/OICP adapters, partner management, protocol credentials, Auto-OEM integrations, APIs, capital-light propositions and licence-market enablement.
• Drive the optimisation roadmap across smart charging, site load management, EMS integration, demand response, analytics and reporting products, and model or decision services.
• Establish clear contracts with adjacent product domains: Session remains the source of session truth, Tariff owns price truth, CDR owns financial truth, and Smart Charging requests profiles through Session/OCPP.
What We're Looking For
Must-haves
• EV industry experience: 15+ years in product management, including significant leadership experience in EV charging, e-mobility, CPO/MSP platforms, charging networks, energy management or closely related EV products.
• Demonstrated ownership of multi-domain product strategy and measurable business or operational KPIs at Director, Head of Product or equivalent scope.
• Strong knowledge of EV charging ecosystems, including roaming, interoperability, CPO/MSP operating models, Auto-OEM or partner integrations, charging protocols and cross-market deployment.
• Experience leading product managers and cross-functional teams as a player-coach, with clear accountability for prioritisation, stakeholder alignment and delivery outcomes.
• Proven ability to shape scalable platform products and APIs, manage domain boundaries and dependencies, and resist fragmentation caused by bespoke market or partner demand.
• Commercial and financial acumen to connect product choices to network growth, energy benefit, cost-to-serve, adoption and value realisation.
• Executive-level communication and stakeholder leadership across global markets, enterprise partners and matrixed organisations.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, business or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
Good to have
• Technical fluency across OCPI/OICP, OCPP, APIs, smart charging, EMS integration, data products, analytics and automated decision services; able to engage credibly with Engineering and Architecture.
• AI-native product build experience: hands-on use of AI tools to create functional prototypes, prompts, agents, workflows or lightweight product logic, with experience defining evaluation sets, quality thresholds, guardrails, human review, fallback behaviour and staged rollout.
• Direct product ownership in roaming platforms, Auto-OEM charging integrations, licence-market enablement, smart charging, site load management, demand response or energy-management systems.
• Experience building governed analytics, reporting, data or decision products used in live operational environments.
• Experience operating a global, API-first platform across Europe, North America and APAC.
• MBA or advanced technical, data or business degree.
What sets this role apart
This role sits at the intersection of ecosystem scale and network economics. It shapes how Shell Recharge connects with roaming partners, Auto-OEMs, licence markets and energy systems, while turning data and intelligent decision services into repeatable operational advantage.
The Product Director will have visible accountability for business outcomes, lead senior product talent and influence critical platform decisions across commercial, engineering, operations and market leadership. The mandate combines strategy with hands-on product ownership—ideal for a leader who can translate complex EV ecosystem dynamics into scalable products and measurable value.
What We Offer
