About The Role
We are looking for a Director of Product Design to lead and elevate design across our core consumer journey — the end-to-end experience that takes customers from first landing page to full product activation and beyond. You will be responsible for defining how we help people navigate complex decisions with confidence, clarity, and care.
You'll partner closely with Product, Engineering, Research, Marketing, and Brand leaders to ensure every user touchpoint is intuitive, efficient, and emotionally resonant — with user needs and our brand. This role combines strategic vision, team management, and hands-on design and product-building excellence. You will champion intentional, intuitive, engaging design, compelling storytelling, strategic experimentation, and measurable business impact.
What You'll Do
- Lead design for our core conversion funnel — covering landing experiences, application flows, onboarding, checkout, and post-purchase / lifecycle management.
- Lead, mentor, and grow a small-but-mighty team of product designers across levels (Senior, Staff, Principal).
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Research, Marketing, and Brand to deliver cohesive experiences that delight users and move the key business outcomes — activation, conversion, retention, and lifetime value.
- Raise the bar for the design practice across: design systems and craft, accessibility, decision-making discipline, experimentation, storytelling, and leverage of research + data.
- Partner with adjacent design functions such as Performance Creative and Brand to create a consistent, connected user journey across growth and product surfaces.
- Contribute to an environment of excellence and growth where team members can do their best work and grow professionally and personally.
What We're Looking For
- 10+ years of product design (UX) experience, including several years leading multi-person design teams.
- 4+ years managing others, with at least 2+ years managing teams of 6 or more designers.
- Proven ability to design for complex, decision-heavy user journeys in a B2C context — ideally in industries like fintech, healthtech, insurtech, or subscription consumer.
- Strong understanding of conversion optimization, user motivation, and behavior design principles.
- Demonstrated experience turning ambiguity into clarity — structuring complex information and simplifying it into elegant, actionable flows.
- Skilled at storytelling and stakeholder communication — you make design rationale clear, measurable, and compelling to senior cross-functional partners.
- A track record of positive impact on product quality and design culture.
- A portfolio showcasing strong visual and interaction design craft alongside compelling impact delivered for past businesses and their customers.
- Hands-on experience in a startup environment with rapid A/B testing, experimentation culture, and 0-to-1 product building.
Nice to Have
- Prior experience in a regulated consumer industry (insurance, financial services, healthcare) where compliance and delight must coexist.
- Experience managing hybrid remote teams across multiple time zones (specifically US and India collaboration).
- Background working on complex onboarding or underwriting flows, or subscription-style consumer products where retention matters as much as conversion.
- Published work, speaking engagements, or open-source contributions in the design community.
What You'll Bring to Our Design Culture
- You believe great design sits at the intersection of art, research, and engineering — and you can lead a team that embodies all three.
- You are humble about craft and generous with collaborators. You prefer measured impact over self-promotion.
- You run toward complexity, not away from it. You thrive when turning a messy, high-stakes decision into something a user can handle in minutes.
- You are equally comfortable zooming into a pixel-level interaction detail and zooming out to a 12-month roadmap.
