Role: Director – (PMO – Renewables & Thermal Assets)
Role Summary
- We are seeking a seasoned Director to join our Power & Utilities Practice to lead and drive Project Management Office (PMO) engagements for large-scale Renewable Energy and Thermal Power assets currently under construction across India. The role demands deep domain expertise in power sector capital projects, mastery of enterprise-grade project management and EDMS tools,strong client relationships, and the ability to build and lead high-performing consulting teams.
Key Responsibilities
PMO Leadership & Delivery
- Lead end-to-end PMO setup, governance, and execution for large capital projects in solar, wind , hybrid, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and thermal(coal/ultra-supercritical) power plants under construction.
- Establish and drive project governance frameworks, including scopemanagement, integrated schedule management,
- Project Controls, Scheduling & Digital Tools: Establish tool selectionframeworks for client PMOs – evaluate, recommend, and supportimplementation of appropriate PMIS/EDMS platforms (e.g., Wrench SmartProjectvs. Aconex vs. PROCORE) based on project scale, client maturity, andintegration requirements. Define and enforce Work Breakdown Structures(WBS), coding structures, activity ID conventions, and calendar hierarchies inPrimavera P6 across multiple EPC packages and contractors.
- Lead schedule integration across Owner, EPC Contractor(s), and sub-contractor schedules – managing interface milestones, float analysis, and delayforensics.
- Oversee document control and transmittal workflows inWrench/Aconex/equivalent EDMS – ensuring version control, review-approvalcycles, vendor document registers (VDR), and as-built documentationcompliance.
Domain Expertise & Advisory
- Provide strategic advisory on construction risk mitigation, contractor performancemanagement, claims & dispute avoidance, commissioning readiness.
- Advise clients on energy transition strategies – including thermal fleetoptimization, retirement planning, and repurposing alongside Re ramp-up.
- Support clients on regulatory and compliance frameworks.
- Bring deep understanding of EPC/LSTK contracting models, BOP packages,equipment procurement (turbines, modules, transformers, HRSG, boilers), andsupply chain challenges specific to Indian power projects.
- Advise on construction-phase digital twins and IoT integration for real-time asset monitoring during erection and commissioning phases.
Business Development & Client Relationships
- Drive revenue growth by identifying, pursuing, and winning PMO and project advisory mandates in the P&U sector.
- Build and nurture C-suite relationships with IPPs, renewable energy developers,infrastructure funds, and multilateral/bilateral lenders.
- Develop compelling proposals, pitch presentations, and thought leadership content – including points of view on digital PMO, integrated project controls, and tool-enabled governance.
Qualifications & Experience
- B.E./B.Tech in Electrical / Mechanical / Civil Engineering (mandatory).
- MBA / PG Diploma in Management (from a reputed institution)
- PMP® / PgMP® / PRINCE2® certification – highly desirable.
Additional certifications that add value:
- AACE CCP (Certified Cost Professional) or PSP (Planning & SchedulingProfessional)/ Oracle Primavera P6 Certification /PMI-SP (SchedulingProfessional) / Wrench SmartProject Certified Administrator/User
Years of experience:
- 12–15 years of progressive experience, with a significant portion in power sector capital projects (renewables and/or thermal).
- Minimum 5–7 years in a consulting/ advisory / PMO leadership role.
