Position Summary:

As the Director of Outsourced Applications for Labs & CMC, you will partner with cross-functional enterprise teams to define and deliver product roadmap and support strategies that align with GSK R&D objectives. We seek proactive, strategic, customer-focused leaders who excel at managing high-performing teams, governing vendors, co-creating value through business partnerships, and driving cost efficiency. Your work will directly support GSK's mission to develop medicines for unmet therapeutic needs and positively impact on 2.5 billion patients worldwide.

You will be accountable for day-to-day support activities that keep our IT products reliable and our users productive across GSK's pharmaceutical operations. Working closely with product owners, engineers, strategic partners, validation/QA, and business stakeholders, you will streamline processes and implement targeted optimizations. You will own product roadmaps, execute enterprise IT strategies, and safeguard business continuity through robust application recovery and disaster recovery strategies.

You will also capture and share lessons learned, coach and develop team members, and maintain audit readiness of GxP systems. Strong communication, curiosity, and practical problem-solving are essential. Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and deliver the product life cycle roadmap for R&D Tech CMC and Lab solutions, ensuring alignment with business priorities.
  • Lead a high-performing team to design, build, and deploy scalable IT solutions while driving process maturity.
  • Work with stakeholders to translate enterprise IT priorities and business needs into measurable, deliverable outcomes.
  • Drive innovation by applying AI/GenAI to optimize IT service management.
  • Empower senior leaders with data-driven decision-making.
  • Ensure GxP compliance and system integrity, maintaining continuous audit readiness
  • Strong vendor governance and effective budget management skills
  • Monitor vendor performance, collect user feedback, and continuously improve systems, tools and processes to maximize value.
  • Drive adoption of SAFe Agile and DevSecOps practices, implement test automation, observability and application monitoring, and orchestrate CI/CD pipeline delivery.
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies and deliver innovative solutions.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve processes to enhance their effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Establish metrics to measure the effectiveness and performance of vendor performance.

Mandatory Domain & Technical Skills (Pharma IT):

  • Experience administering LIMS, ELN, scientific data lakes, CMC (chemistry, manufacturing and controls), lab information systems (LIS/LIMS), and related scientific platforms
  • Experience in pharma life sciences, lab, OT and EDGE environments, with a deep understanding of regulatory requirements
  • Oversee day-to-day team operations, planning, budgeting and vendor governance
  • Lead teams through change and promote psychological safety, work-life balance and wellbeing initiatives
  • Proven track record in creating and executing strategies, initiatives, and end-to-end product lifecycle management.
  • Demonstrated track record in technical debt remediation, disaster recovery planning, CAPA execution, and cybersecurity vulnerability management
  • Knowledge of AIOps/GenAI tools use in ITSM
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration and manage expectations
  • Working with scientists, quality, regulatory and vendor teams to translate requirements
  • Strong expertise in ITIL, DevSecOps, SAFe, secure coding practices, and risk assessment methodologies
  • Experience hosting and maintaining applications on Azure and GCP is preferred
  • Hands-on experience with tools such as ServiceNow, Aha and JIRA/ADO
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to work under pressure
  • Proven skills in proactive risk identification and mitigation strategies

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or equivalent degree in Technology
  • 18+ years of experience, including expertise in Pharma IT especially in early science domain.
  • Proven track record of delivering and managing enterprise IT solutions in a global, matrixed organization
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing cross-functional teams
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
  • Certifications: ITIL v3/v4 (preferred), Agile certifications; Agile/Scrum exposure desirable
  • Hands-on use of monitoring, logging, executive dashboards and observability tools
  • Familiarity with GxP regulatory or quality standards in healthcare or life sciences
  • Experience with AIOps and hyperautomation, ITSM frameworks, service desk operations, and improvements to selfservice support.
