Role description: This role is with one of our portfolio companies.
We are hiring a Head of Product for one of our early-stage portfolio companies — a high-potential fintech firm that is currently at a pivotal moment in its growth. This is the most senior product role in the organization. You will be responsible for defining the product vision, shaping the roadmap, and establishing the discipline required to elevate the company from early traction to significant impact.
This role offers high autonomy and accountability. You will work closely with the founders, operate with minimal processes, and have genuine ownership over your responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Product Vision & Strategy: Define the product north star aligned with business goals; make deliberate calls on what to build, what to kill, and what to sequence
- 0-1 Execution: Take ideas from concept to shipped product; own the outcome, not just the output
- Roadmap Prioritization: Make difficult decisions within constraints; clearly articulate when to decline requests as decisively as when you agree to them.
- Team Leadership: Lead and grow a focused product team of 5-6 members; establish high standards for product thinking throughout the organization.
- Customer & Market Insight: Own discovery process; talk to customers, synthesize their feedback, and convert insights into precise product decisions.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work tightly with engineering, business, and external stakeholders; be the connective tissue across functions
- Stakeholder Communication: Articulate product strategy clearly to the Founder, investors, and key partners
- Stay up to date with industry best practices, emerging technologies, and changes in enterprise software dynamics to drive continuous product innovation.
- Act as a key voice of the customer and advocate for product excellence across the organization
What We're Looking For:
Non-negotiables
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; an MBA from a Tier 1 college is preferred
- 8–12 years of product experience, including 2–3 years in a senior leadership or ownership role.
- Proven experience in taking a product from its initial stage to scaling it successfully; you've been part of a high-growth company long enough to take ownership of outcomes, not just deliver features.
- Experience in fintech, either current or past; expertise in a specific fintech vertical is a plus.
- Hands-on approach: you write specifications, engage with customers, and are willing to handle less glamorous tasks.
- Strong prioritization skills: you have made tough decisions that may have been unpopular, but were ultimately the right ones.
- Exceptional communication skills: you are ready to engage with founders, inspire your team, and establish credibility externally.
Strong Differentiators
- Experience with complex, regulated fintech products
- Proven ability to build a strong product culture and set hiring standards for product managers in an early-stage environment.
- Comfortable operating at the intersection of product, technology, and business strategy
- Previous experience at a high-growth fintech startup
Note: We will check the fitment for multiple roles across our portfolios.
