Role Description
We are seeking a hands-on, execution-focused Director of Operations to lead end-to-end factory operations. This role will be responsible for driving production efficiency, building robust operational systems, and ensuring consistent delivery in a high-mix, variable-volume manufacturing environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesProduction & Operations Management
- Lead daily plant operations including production planning, scheduling, and execution
- Ensure optimal utilization of manpower, machinery, and materials
- Manage production across varying order volumes (200–5000 pcs per SKU)
- Drive improvements in throughput, yield, and overall efficiency
Planning & Inventory Control
- Establish and manage structured production planning systems
- Maintain optimal levels of raw materials (RM), work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods (FG)
- Align production plans with demand and sales requirements
Cost & Performance Management
- Monitor and control operational costs including labor, energy, and material usage
- Track and improve key metrics such as cost per unit, rejection rates, and cycle time
- Identify and execute cost optimization initiatives
Quality & Process Excellence
- Ensure adherence to defined quality standards and customer specifications
- Reduce defects, rework, and process variability
- Implement continuous improvement practices across operations
Supply Chain Coordination
- Coordinate with procurement and vendors to ensure timely availability of raw materials
- Manage supplier performance and mitigate supply risks
Systems & Reporting
- Develop and implement MIS, dashboards, and reporting structures
- Build data-driven decision-making processes across the plant
- Standardize SOPs and operational workflows
Team Leadership
- Lead and develop plant managers, supervisors, and operational teams
- Establish accountability through clear KPIs and performance tracking
- Build a disciplined, performance-oriented work culture
Experience
- 10–18 years in manufacturing operations
- Minimum 5 years in a leadership role managing plant operations
Skills
- Strong expertise in production planning and process optimization
- Experience with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement
- Data-driven approach with experience in MIS/reporting systems
- Ability to manage high SKU variability and demand fluctuations
- Strong leadership and problem-solving skills
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering / Operations / Industrial Management
- MBA (Operations) preferred
