POSITION SUMMARY
The Dean/Director – Faculty of Liberal Arts & Sciences shall serve as the academic and administrative head of the Faculty, providing strategic leadership in academic governance, research growth, faculty development, curriculum innovation, and operational excellence. The role is responsible for driving institutional quality, global academic engagement, accreditation readiness, interdisciplinary advancement, and overall faculty growth in alignment with national and international standards.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
1. Educational Qualification
- Ph.D. in Humanities / Social Sciences / Liberal Arts-Economics, psychology, Languages/ Interdisciplinary Studies or any relevant discipline from a recognized university.
2. Experience
- Minimum 10-15 years of teaching / research / academic administration experience in higher education.
- At least 7 years in a senior academic leadership role such as Professor / Head / Associate Dean / Dean / Director.
- Proven experience in handling multidisciplinary academic programs, faculty governance, curriculum reforms, accreditation, and research development.
3. Research & Publications
- Strong record of scholarly publications in peer-reviewed / indexed journals.
- Demonstrated contribution in books, edited volumes, funded projects, conference proceedings, or policy papers.
- Experience in supervising doctoral research and promoting funded research initiatives.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Academic Leadership and Governance
- Lead and monitor the overall academic functioning and quality of all departments under the Faculty.
- Plan academic growth, curriculum modernization, and introduction of new programs aligned with institutional goals.
B. Research, Innovation and Knowledge Development
- Promote research excellence through publications, funded projects, patents, consultancy, and interdisciplinary research initiatives.
- Strengthen faculty research capacity and academic collaborations through mentoring, research forums, MoUs, conferences, and national/international partnerships.
C. Faculty Development and Performance Oversight
- Lead faculty talent management through recruitment, induction, mentoring, retention, and periodic performance review.
- Monitor faculty workload, teaching effectiveness, academic output, and promote continuous professional and industry-oriented development.
D. Student Academic Excellence and Engagement
- Ensure student academic success, progression, retention, and career readiness through strong academic support systems.
- Promote mentoring, inclusive learning, research, internships, and co-curricular development for holistic student growth.
E. Accreditation, Quality Assurance and Compliance
- Lead accreditation, ranking, and regulatory compliance preparedness across all quality frameworks through continuous monitoring and benchmark implementation.
- Ensure timely documentation, audit readiness, evidence-based reporting, and measurable academic quality assurance systems.
F. Financial Planning and Resource Management
- Plan Faculty development budgets and ensure effective utilization of academic resources and infrastructure.
- Mobilize external funding through grants, sponsored projects, CSR partnerships, and research collaborations.
G. Institutional Development and Strategic Initiatives
- Contribute to institutional governance, academic policy formulation, and strategic academic planning through active participation in statutory bodies.
- Drive faculty expansion, future-ready academic opportunities, and institutional branding through outreach, partnerships, rankings, and academic initiatives.
H. Stakeholder Engagement and Representation
- Build and strengthen strategic collaborations with industry, academia, government, alumni, and global institutions.
- Represent the Faculty in key academic forums while fostering multidisciplinary engagement across departments.
