About the Role

We are looking for a Director of Engineering to lead multiple engineering teams building AI-powered products for financial institutions worldwide.

This is a highly technical leadership role requiring a balance of engineering excellence, product execution and people leadership. You will partner closely with Product Management, AI Research, Platform Engineering and senior technical leaders to deliver scalable, reliable and intelligent software at startup speed.

The ideal candidate has successfully built and scaled engineering teams, enjoys solving complex distributed systems problems, embraces AI-first software development and thrives in a fast-moving product environment.

What You'll Do

As Director of Engineering, you will:

• Lead multiple engineering teams through Engineering Managers and senior technical leaders.
• Own end-to-end delivery for one or more product or platform areas.
• Drive architectural decisions for scalable, cloud-native software platforms.
• Partner closely with Product, Design and AI teams to deliver customer-centric solutions.
• Build, mentor and develop high-performing engineering managers and senior engineers.
• Raise the engineering bar through strong hiring, coaching and performance management.
• Improve engineering execution, release quality, operational excellence and delivery predictability.
• Foster an AI-first engineering culture by encouraging the effective use of modern AI development tools and practices.
• Champion engineering best practices across architecture, security, reliability, observability and developer productivity.
• Collaborate with global engineering leaders to shape long-term technical strategy and organizational growth.

What We're Looking For

Experience

• 12+ years of software engineering experience with strong technical depth.
• 4+ years leading multiple engineering teams through Engineering Managers.
• Proven experience delivering large-scale SaaS or enterprise software products.
• Demonstrated success hiring, mentoring and growing engineering leaders.
• Experience working in fast-paced product companies or high-growth technology organizations.

Technical Leadership

You should have strong experience building and scaling systems involving:

• Distributed systems
• Cloud-native architectures
• Microservices
• APIs and platform engineering
• Event-driven systems
• Performance and scalability
• Reliability and operational excellence

Hands-on programming experience in one or more modern languages such as Java, Python, Go or TypeScript is expected.

AI Experience

While deep AI research experience is not required, strong AI engineering fluency is essential.

Experience in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable:

• Large Language Models (LLMs)
• Agentic AI systems
• Conversational AI
• Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)
• AI evaluation frameworks
• Prompt engineering
• AI orchestration
• Voice AI
• AI-powered developer tools

Candidates should demonstrate how AI has fundamentally improved their engineering productivity and leadership effectiveness.
