Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Lead backend engineering teams across architecture, design, development, scalability, reliability, and delivery.
  • Define and drive backend engineering strategy aligned with business and product goals.
  • Architect and scale distributed systems, event-driven platforms, microservices, and cloud-native applications.
  • Drive platform modernisation initiatives, including legacy transformation and cloud migration.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers, Architects, Business Leaders, and Enterprise Customers for requirement gathering and solution planning.
  • Establish engineering best practices across coding standards, architecture governance, DevSecOps, observability, reliability, and release management.
  • Build and mentor high-performing engineering teams, including backend engineers, engineering managers, and technical leads.
  • Lead architecture reviews, technical roadmap discussions, scalability planning, and engineering governance forums.
  • Drive engineering excellence around performance, security, scalability, availability, and operational efficiency.
  • Work closely with Platform Engineering and Infrastructure teams on Kubernetes, CI/CD, APIs, and cloud infrastructure adoption.
  • Enable AI-assisted engineering workflows and modern developer productivity practices using GenAI tooling.
  • Manage stakeholder communication, delivery planning, engineering execution, and cross-functional collaboration across distributed global teams.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of backend engineering experience with at least 4+ years in engineering leadership or engineering management roles.
  • Strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, distributed systems, and microservices architecture.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
  • Strong understanding of event-driven architecture, Kafka, APIs, and scalable backend systems.
  • Experience building enterprise-scale systems with high availability and scalability requirements.
  • Strong understanding of Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD, and cloud-native engineering practices.
  • Experience managing engineering teams and mentoring senior engineers and technical leads.
  • Strong stakeholder management and enterprise client communication skills.
  • Experience working with Product, Architecture, Security, and Business teams in enterprise environments.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted engineering workflows and GenAI tooling like ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, Cursor, or similar platforms is a strong plus.
  • Strong problem-solving, technical leadership, and execution capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in SaaS, Fintech, BFSI, AI platforms, enterprise platforms, or cloud infrastructure domains.
  • Exposure to platform engineering, internal developer platforms (IDP), or API platforms.
  • Experience with AI/GenAI ecosystems, RAG pipelines, or LLM orchestration frameworks is an added advantage.
  • Prior experience leading large-scale modernisation or digital transformation initiatives.
