Oracle Cloud Infrastructure is seeking an accomplished engineering leader to lead a high-performing organization responsible for core cryptographic services, Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), and certificate lifecycle capabilities that secure OCI resources and customer workloads.
These are Tier 0 cloud services: foundational systems that establish trust, protect communications and identities, and enable secure operation across the Oracle Cloud.
As Director of Software Engineering, you will set the technical and organizational direction for this strategic service portfolio, balancing long-term platform vision with the operational rigor required of highly available, security-sensitive distributed systems.
You will lead and grow a team of engineering managers and senior engineers, serving as both a technical authority and people leader. You will guide the design, delivery, and operation of resilient, scalable, and secure cryptographic platforms; raise the bar for engineering excellence; and translate an evolving PKI and certificate-management strategy into measurable execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of engineers focused on software development, operations, and distributed system
- Oversee the design, development, testing, debugging, and deployment of software applications, operating systems, and database solution
- Build and implement enhancements within the existing software architecture, while envisioning and driving architectural improvement
- Establish and enforce operational policies through subordinate managers to ensure consistent and effective execution of engineering practice
- Collaborate and negotiate with internal and external executive stakeholders on complex technical and policy matters to influence strategic directio
- Maintain comprehensive functional expertise and a broad understanding of company operations to align software engineering efforts with business goal
- Drive best practices in software development life cycle, quality assurance, and release management
- Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and high performance within the engineering team
- Provide regular reports and updates to executive leadership on progress, challenges, and resource requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 14 years of experience in software engineering, with significant experience in operations and distributed systems
- Proven track record of leadership and people management in complex software development environments
- Strong expertise in software architecture, including application, database, and systems design
- Demonstrated ability to manage large-scale software projects and cross-functional teams
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills
- Deep understanding of product development processes and operational considerations in distributed systems
- Experience working with executive management and influencing policy at the organizational level
Preferred Skills
- Experience with cloud-native architectures and microservices
- Knowledge of modern DevOps practices and tools
- Familiarity with large-scale distributed databases and networking technologies
- Ability to drive technical vision and strategy
