About The Role

Digital Experience (DX) ( https://www.adobe.com/experience-cloud.html) is a USD 5B+ business serving the needs of enterprise businesses including 95%+ of fortune 500 organizations.

We are hiring a Director of Engineering to lead a senior engineering organization responsible for large-scale, cloud-native platforms and AI/GenAI-powered capabilities. This role requires a leader with strong technical judgment, proven people leadership, and the ability to connect engineering decisions to business and customer outcomes.

You will own technology strategy and execution for highly distributed systems, while building a culture of engineering excellence, accountability, and innovation. You will lead engineers, engineering managers, and architects delivering enterprise-critical applications, hundreds of microservices, and AI-driven solutions.

What You Will Do

  • Define and drive the technical vision and execution strategy aligned with DX business priorities
  • Provide technical and architectural leadership across large-scale, distributed systems
  • Lead design and delivery of platforms comprising hundreds of microservices, ensuring scalability, reliability, security, and performance
  • Own end-to-end delivery and operations, balancing execution speed with long-term system health
  • Lead teams building AI/GenAI-powered customer-facing features and applying AI to improve engineering productivity
  • Translate complex technical decisions into clear business and customer impact
  • Set a high bar for engineering excellence, ownership, and continuous improvement
  • Mentor senior engineers, managers, and architects through complex technical and organizational challenges
  • Build and sustain high-performing engineering teams, including hiring, retention, and career development
  • Partner closely with Product Management and cross-functional leaders to deliver on shared goals
  • Communicate effectively with technical and executive stakeholders, influencing decisions and alignment

What You Bring

  • Passion and love of what you do!
  • 18+ years in software engineering and engineering leadership, delivering large-scale, high-impact systems
  • Deep expertise in distributed systems, microservices architectures, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Strong understanding of system design, data structures, algorithms, and engineering best practices
  • Solid understanding of AI and Generative AI, including experience delivering AI-powered capabilities
  • Experience leveraging AI to improve engineering efficiency and developer productivity is a plus
  • Hands-on familiarity with modern languages and frameworks (e.g., Java, Python, React)
  • Proven ability to lead senior engineering organizations and influence across functions
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage technical and non-technical audiences
  • Pragmatic problem-solver who thrives in complex, fast-moving environments
  • Demonstrated ownership mindset, bias for action, and ability to drive change at scale
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
