Role Summary Own the end-to-end engineering organization for the Intelligent Commerce (IC) platform, including product engineering, data platform, ML platform, integrations, and engineering operations. Partner with Product, Applied AI/ML, Customer Success, and executive leadership to build a scalable AI-driven commerce platform serving enterprise customers across SEA and global markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Own engineering strategy, architecture, execution, and delivery for the Intelligent Commerce platform.
- Lead product engineering, backend services, APIs, frontend, data engineering, ML platform, and cloud infrastructure.
- Build a scalable, secure, multi-tenant platform supporting analytics, Applied ML, optimization, and agentic AI capabilities.
- Own the data platform including ingestion, ETL/ELT, batch and streaming pipelines, data quality, governance, and observability.
- Drive engineering excellence across SDLC, CI/CD, testing, reliability, security, and performance.
- Partner with AI/ML teams to productionize forecasting, recommendations, causal modeling, optimization, personalization, and decisioning systems.
- Establish engineering roadmaps aligned to business outcomes such as revenue growth, margin improvement, inventory optimization, and marketing efficiency.
- Collaborate with Product, Design, Sales, and Customer Success to deliver enterprise-grade features.
- Lead geographically distributed engineering teams across India, SEA, and global locations.
Technical Qualifications
- 15 years of software engineering experience with 3+ years leading managers or senior engineering teams.
- Strong experience building SaaS platforms, data-intensive products, or AI-powered enterprise systems.
- Expertise in distributed systems, APIs, microservices, cloud platforms (preferably AWS), containers, orchestration, and observability.
- Deep understanding of data platforms, warehouses/lakehouses, streaming, feature engineering, and analytics.
- Experience with ML platforms, model deployment, feature stores, monitoring, and retraining pipelines.
- Strong knowledge of scalable architecture, security, multi-tenancy, and performance engineering.
- Exposure to modern AI/LLM and agentic architectures is highly desirable.
Business & Product Skills
- Understand commerce, retail, or marketplace domains and connect engineering investments to business KPIs.
- Experience supporting experimentation, personalization, pricing/promotions, inventory intelligence, and decision-support products.
- Ability to balance speed, quality, cost, and customer value.
People Leadership
- Build and scale high-performing engineering organizations.
- Hire, mentor, and develop Engineering Managers, Tech Leads, and senior engineers.
- Manage distributed teams across SEA/global time zones.
- Establish engineering culture focused on ownership, quality, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Preferred Experience
- E-commerce, retail technology, MarTech, AdTech, or Decision Intelligence platforms.
- Enterprise SaaS products with AI/ML capabilities.
- Exposure to uplift modeling, optimization, recommendation systems, or forecasting.
- Experience with aws, Apache Airflow, modern data platforms, or feature stores.
- Working with global setup and owning multi geography teams.
Success Measures (First 12 Months)
- Improve engineering velocity and delivery predictability.
- Scale the IC platform for enterprise growth.
- Strengthen platform reliability, security, and observability.
- Build a scalable engineering organization with clear ownership and technical standards.
- Deliver roadmap milestones aligned with business growth and customer success.
