Job Description

Job Summary

The E-commerce Director is responsible for developing and executing the company's online sales strategy to drive revenue growth, customer acquisition, and digital brand presence. This role oversees all aspects of e-commerce operations, including website management, digital marketing, merchandising, customer experience, analytics, and cross-functional coordination.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute the overall e-commerce strategy aligned with business objectives.
  • Identify growth opportunities across digital channels and marketplaces.
  • Drive online revenue, profitability, and customer lifetime value.

E-commerce Operations

  • Oversee day-to-day management of the e-commerce platform and online storefronts.
  • Ensure optimal website performance, user experience, and conversion rates.
  • Manage product catalog, pricing, promotions, and inventory coordination.

Digital Marketing & Customer Acquisition

  • Collaborate with marketing teams to drive traffic through SEO, SEM, social media, email marketing, and affiliate programs.
  • Optimize customer acquisition costs and return on advertising spend (ROAS).
  • Lead customer retention and loyalty initiatives.

Merchandising & Customer Experience

  • Develop online merchandising strategies to maximize sales and engagement.
  • Analyze customer behavior and implement improvements to the digital shopping journey.
  • Ensure a seamless omnichannel customer experience.

Analytics & Performance Management

  • Monitor KPIs including traffic, conversion rate, average order value (AOV), customer acquisition cost (CAC), and revenue growth.
  • Utilize analytics tools to generate insights and support decision-making.
  • Prepare performance reports for senior leadership.

Team Leadership

  • Lead and mentor e-commerce, digital marketing, merchandising, and analytics teams.
  • Establish goals, performance metrics, and development plans.
  • Manage external vendors, agencies, and technology partners.

Technology & Innovation

  • Evaluate and implement new e-commerce technologies and platforms.
  • Partner with IT and product teams on website enhancements and integrations.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive activity.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, E-commerce, Digital Marketing, or a related field; MBA preferred.
  • 8–15+ years of experience in e-commerce, digital commerce, or online retail leadership roles.
  • Proven track record of driving significant online revenue growth.
  • Experience with major e-commerce platforms such as Shopify, Adobe Commerce, or Salesforce Commerce Cloud.
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing, analytics, CRM, and customer journey optimization.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
