Job Summary
The E-commerce Director is responsible for developing and executing the company's online sales strategy to drive revenue growth, customer acquisition, and digital brand presence. This role oversees all aspects of e-commerce operations, including website management, digital marketing, merchandising, customer experience, analytics, and cross-functional coordination.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute the overall e-commerce strategy aligned with business objectives.
- Identify growth opportunities across digital channels and marketplaces.
- Drive online revenue, profitability, and customer lifetime value.
E-commerce Operations
- Oversee day-to-day management of the e-commerce platform and online storefronts.
- Ensure optimal website performance, user experience, and conversion rates.
- Manage product catalog, pricing, promotions, and inventory coordination.
Digital Marketing & Customer Acquisition
- Collaborate with marketing teams to drive traffic through SEO, SEM, social media, email marketing, and affiliate programs.
- Optimize customer acquisition costs and return on advertising spend (ROAS).
- Lead customer retention and loyalty initiatives.
Merchandising & Customer Experience
- Develop online merchandising strategies to maximize sales and engagement.
- Analyze customer behavior and implement improvements to the digital shopping journey.
- Ensure a seamless omnichannel customer experience.
Analytics & Performance Management
- Monitor KPIs including traffic, conversion rate, average order value (AOV), customer acquisition cost (CAC), and revenue growth.
- Utilize analytics tools to generate insights and support decision-making.
- Prepare performance reports for senior leadership.
Team Leadership
- Lead and mentor e-commerce, digital marketing, merchandising, and analytics teams.
- Establish goals, performance metrics, and development plans.
- Manage external vendors, agencies, and technology partners.
Technology & Innovation
- Evaluate and implement new e-commerce technologies and platforms.
- Partner with IT and product teams on website enhancements and integrations.
- Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive activity.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, E-commerce, Digital Marketing, or a related field; MBA preferred.
- 8–15+ years of experience in e-commerce, digital commerce, or online retail leadership roles.
- Proven track record of driving significant online revenue growth.
- Experience with major e-commerce platforms such as Shopify, Adobe Commerce, or Salesforce Commerce Cloud.
- Strong understanding of digital marketing, analytics, CRM, and customer journey optimization.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
