Job Description

The Director – Law College will provide strategic, academic, administrative, and operational leadership for the institution. The role requires an accomplished academic leader with strong expertise in legal education, institutional governance, accreditation processes, faculty management, industry collaboration, and student development. The Director will be responsible for driving academic excellence, regulatory compliance, research initiatives, and institutional growth aligned with the vision and mission of the institution.

Key Responsibilities

Academic Leadership

  • Provide visionary leadership in planning, implementing, and enhancing legal education programs.
  • Ensure high academic standards in curriculum delivery, pedagogy, research, and student outcomes.
  • Lead curriculum development aligned with Bar Council of India (BCI), UGC, and other statutory requirements.
  • Promote interdisciplinary learning, legal research, publications, moot courts, and experiential learning initiatives.
  • Drive innovation in legal education through industry integration, case-based learning, and technology-enabled teaching.

Institutional Administration

  • Oversee day-to-day academic and administrative operations of the Law College.
  • Develop and implement institutional policies, academic regulations, and governance frameworks.
  • Ensure compliance with BCI, UGC, NAAC, and other regulatory and accreditation bodies.
  • Prepare strategic plans, annual budgets, institutional reports, and academic performance reviews.
  • Monitor institutional quality standards and continuous improvement initiatives.

Faculty & Staff Management

  • Lead recruitment, mentoring, appraisal, and professional development of faculty and staff.
  • Foster a collaborative and research-oriented academic culture.
  • Encourage faculty participation in FDPs, conferences, publications, consultancy, and funded research projects.
  • Build high-performing academic teams aligned with institutional goals.

Student Development & Engagement

  • Promote holistic student development through academic mentoring, legal aid clinics, internships, placements, and co-curricular activities.
  • Strengthen student discipline, ethics, and professional conduct.
  • Support student participation in moot courts, legal research competitions, seminars, and national/international events.
  • Ensure effective grievance redressal and student support systems.

Industry & Institutional Relations

  • Establish collaborations with law firms, corporates, judiciary, NGOs, legal practitioners, and academic institutions.
  • Build strong industry engagement for internships, guest lectures, live projects, and placements.
  • Represent the institution in academic, professional, and regulatory forums.
  • Promote the institution's brand, outreach activities, and strategic partnerships.

Research & Accreditation

  • Promote research culture, consultancy projects, funded initiatives, and scholarly publications.
  • Lead NAAC, NIRF, and accreditation-related initiatives and documentation.
  • Strengthen institutional rankings, visibility, and academic reputation.

Qualifications & Eligibility

  • Ph.D. in Law from a recognized university.
  • Master's Degree in Law (LL.M.) with an excellent academic record.
  • Minimum 15–20 years of experience in legal education, including significant administrative leadership experience.
  • Prior experience as Dean, Principal, Director, HOD, or equivalent leadership role in a reputed law institution is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of BCI, UGC, NAAC, and higher education regulatory frameworks.
  • Proven record of research publications, academic administration, and institutional development.
